Not entirely true, do some research. It does add water to your muscle cells tho.

i have done research and i've read that creatine, because it adds water to the muscle cells, which last time i checked, were located in your muscles, it makes your muscles softer. i'm not saying that it makes your muscles soft as jelly, but softer none the less

yeah.. lol... but i've been reading about this shit outside of TA. i'mn not completely helpless, even though i may be wrong in this case.

ive beeen using creatine regularly off and on (as in for 2 months every 2 months. So 2 on 2 off) and Ive never noticed a softening. The main thing is just slightly more water retention in the fat storage areas but its just water weight and creatine by itself wont make you gain more than 5-10 lbs of water retention. The real weight you keep is from crazy workouts and enough food to = the muscle output youre wishing for

Effects of Creatine

Increases muscle content of creatine. (Creatine is already in your body), muscle content of Phosocreatine, Lean Body Mass, Muscle Size, Peak muscle power output, Strength

If you don't like any of these, then thats cool.

Creatine provides an extra "boost" when working out/doing athletic activity. It is naturally occuring in the body and is very quickly used up. Taking creatine supplements just replenishes your body with it. One of the side effects is a little more water retention, thats all.

supplements are good if you have a busy schedule and dont have time to prepair 5 or 6 set meals. in this cse their essential for your workout. creatine is good in small doses. i take it every few months when i want to get to the next level.

i'd just like to say in this thread to the people saying that "the best answer is normal food" that i don't think it matters. i've lived entirely off of supplements and multi-vitamins for looooooong periods of time...and had awesome success during those times. eating is just about amounts and proper percentages. it's just science...you give your body what it needs and it responds the way you tell it to...

i agree...

thanks for all the info everyone. im gonna go to a GNC or something this week and weigh my options, etc.

Posted by Orbax on May-08-2006 02:47:

start off cheap. i bucket whey protein for 2-3 1 scoop a day shakes (takes a while to acclimate) and then a bucket of noxplode ONLY for days when you are gonna go NUTS otherwise its 80 bucks a month for nothing. Waiting for crazy days and then using it wisely stretches out your investment

good plan

Posted by Floorfiller on May-08-2006 02:54:

i would maybe start with something from GNC..but then if you start getting serious...order online. GNC is so expensive...ordering online saves a lot...

i just started takin no xplode and that shit works. I get huge pumps and i am so energetic that its almost to the point of hand tremors.
been taking it for a week and have already noticed strgnth gains and better vascularity.

its a great product but use as directed and u will get results.

Posted by astroboy on May-08-2006 03:21:

Creatine I think is a bit dodgy. It does give u more energy and it can make your muscles look bigger by making them retain water, there are people who say it's bad for your kidneys. Apparently to get the best results out of it you need to "cycle" it... whatever.. not worth the trouble imo.

Protein is what your body builds muscles from anyway. Protein powders just help you take in more protein without the fat that's associated with eating heaps of meat. Usually it is made of either soy extract, whey extract (whey is the liquid that forms when milk curdles... the solids are the curds and they get turned into cheese), or egg white. Whey protein powder tends to be the best, in particular the Whey Proetin Isolates (WPIs). Casein is another protein found in milk it doesn't increase muscle synthesis as much as whey protein but it causes a slow release of amino acids throughout the day, repairing muscle breakdown.

There are a whole bunch of chemical supplements out there, some of them that even mess with hormone production in your body. Personally I'd just stick to the naturally sourced protein powders.
