thats surprising. i thought his inclusion in the squad was a given. I would take him over del piero and inzaghi for sure. Gilardino's good but hes not had a good season and cassano has delivered when he plays for the country. In any case, with or without him, I still think Italy have the best squad in the tournament.

INZAGHI IS SHIT WITH THE NATIONAL TEAM...i hate when ppl bring his name up. Its Gila & Toni then del piero/inzaghi/and the 5th striker most likely Tavano/Lucarelli or Iaquinta

i would go for iaquinta.

hes the shit in fm2006

And we all know, if u can be a good manager in fm..u can be a good manager in real life

Tbh I don't give a fuck about the scotland squad, I gave up on them years ago. Being half italian I know who I'll be supporting in germany.

bold statement considering Brasil's squad, Ronny alone in good shape counts for 3 on a pitch

anyway, no matter how much i love brasil, my cheers go out to:
1) Holland
2) Brasil
3) Argentina

Fair enough but if you look at the brazil defence and goalkeeping, its very weak while Italy has fantastic balance in all departments.

Personally i'm glad Downing made the cut, he should do well in midfield but up front with owen and rooney doubtful (at best) we got problems.

Brazil will take it this year anyway.

knew you were gonna say that

Off course their defence will be considered as their 'weak' point since there aint a better midfield or attack imaginable.

But Roberto Carlos, Lucio, Gilberto ... isnt exactly a crappy defence either, and certainly not weak. Same goes for Dida, i wasnt a fan of his in the past (too many errors) and i'm not one now either but you got to admit that atm he's one of the better goalies out there.

Posted by Cloud on May-10-2006 15:20:

I wouldn't be so excited about Dida...

Posted by fastmp3 on May-10-2006 15:32:

+1 on dida not being on top form

Posted by InterMilan31 on May-10-2006 19:01:

Roberto Carlos is not top form this year either

looking foword to see what excuses the brits come out if when they get knocked out "sky news flash : gremany 3 - engerland 0 , if rooney had have been fit....yadda yadda yadda.....we still won it in '66 tho"

England would thrash the Germans! It's the Italians, Dutch, Brazilians, etc that England have to worry about, especially if they don't have Rooney or Owen. Sure, not having those two guys is an excuse, but it's a pretty damn good one. YOu can't replace those two guys, especially Wayne the Ogre.

You guys seem to have short term memory..or probably werent even alive back then.

Germany were serious underdogs in 1990 and the previous 2 worldcups.

Still they managed to reach the semis every single time and won in italy.

Even in korea people thought they wont even go past the quarters.

Never underestimate zee germans. Never never.. Never.

And they're playing at home. I don't think their squad is crap, they have genuine chances. It's actually the first time i ever sympathise with their team, several players i like there. But they're clearly not at Brazil level, and still behind squads like Argentina, Italy, England.

Germany had the easiest route to the final in 2002. Kahn and Ballack carried to the final, a team that didnt face tough opposition until the final. Im sure they would trade home advantage to be given the same opponents as last time.

Posted by Michael19 on May-12-2006 18:52:

only made it past USA by the skin of their ball sacks aswell. Jammy bastards in 2004, that wont be repeated.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on May-13-2006 20:45:

The Germans were given a gift against the USA last time anyway. And the final was horribly one sided in 2002. Germany maybe had 1 or 2 real chances. Brazil's biggest challenge last time were the English and they even said so. I hope this next world cup is a little bit more competitive.
