I don't think that's a fair warning...b/c as he said before the 1st generation iPods are not know for having problems...and considering the length of time he's had his, and I'm sure it's been dropped and roughed around a few times...still working fine...I doubt technical problems are SURE to follow.

Just let the guy sell it. If people are curious as to if he's has problems in the past 5 years that he's had it, they'll ask before they buy. Not to mention even IF it did...that's still a good price for an iPod with that size harddrive and all the accessories.

The fact is, VERTiG0 is a techy. He would take care of his stuff.

He replaced the battery, so those issues won't come up for another 3 years of HEAVY use(average life span for new Lithium-ion batteries).

In terms of the iPod breaking down: as much as I do not like iPods myself, they sell for a reason. They work, simple. No matter what kind of electronic equipment you buy, you will find somebody with a horror story, that is just part of manufacturing. They have the term 'lemon' for a reason, as well as warranties for this reason. You can go out and buy a $70,000 car, which never works properly. Its life.

He is trying to sell something with a good track record, I would trust him.

On a side note: Cale, has Apple put out any type of disk checking tool? To see if the hard drive has bad sectors or not? I have wanted to check that for my Creative, but I was just wondering if Apple has anything like that?

Maybe I did over do it with the bashing... its just that I have two friends who returned theirs. one was a past generation one and another one was the same one I had. both were technical errors.

but didnt mean to spoil the sale for you, hope it does well. Im just hot off a second busted ipod and I guess I got carried away. apologies.

If they were technical errors than iPods warranty should cover that.

I'm sure the apology is appreciated nonetheless.

Purchase date July 14th, 2004, from First Avenue Computing on Frobisher Avenue, Waterloo, Ontario. It has never been dropped or roughed around, you've seen it in use. Car only, and ONLY kept in the TuneDok.

Nope. You're on your own in that aspect. I'm sure there are third-party tools for that, but nothing that Apple has specifically created to check iPods. Apple's iPod repair scheme is as such: Replace the damn thing if anything is wrong. BUY BUY BUY
