at least do it semi legally and download live sets.
at least that way you'll be able to find tracklists with the PROPER artist.
Thas one thing that gets a fair old reaction here, mislabelled artists. Mainly cos its funny some of the combinatinos that people come out with.

What I recommend is you take Trance Nutta's advice... and from there perhaps once you've found specific artists that interest you (with proper tags etc) you look around on sites like audiojelly and beatport an aim to support them. I'm sure 98% of the people on here started or still are downloading illegally, and have had the same experiences. The thing is, once you've gotten into the music it is important to go out of your way to support the artists that you listen to.
I understand it's costly - hell I'm sure everyone that pays for their music understands that. Outside of the law and the record labels, nobody expects you to off the bat pay for everything you've never heard of to hear it for the first time and determine if you like it. Granted there are samples for that - but you rarely get a quarter of the experience from sample alone. So before posting a thread like this again I suggest you (as has already been said) go and have a listen to some livesets, determine what you like and then go support those that you like; a lot of things these days (I almost said most, but the clasiscs are often hard to find) are available legally on sites like audiojelly or beatport, so give it a shot.
As I said, based on what you've posted, you're looking for more of what's considered the "peak" era of trance; many will disagree about that, but as far as popularity goes that's where the songs you've mentioned settle in for the most part. Good luck

What do u guys think about DJ Tiesto - As the Rush Comes?
Posted by isthatacow2 on May-16-2006 04:06:
thanks for the info Shade. Pray tell, what exactly is "peak trance"? is it when trance first got popular, or when it was considered the best, or something else?

It's not an actual genre, I called it peaktime trance because it was most popular then - for many they'll call that time the best, but at the same time you'll have those who completely disagree and find that that was when the decline and trance started, it's up to you to decide what you like though. I'm not going to go into details of why some people like it and some people don't because there have been way too many arguments about the subject, so it's best you just search for yourself

Really there are way too many artists to mention, and many are still around these days (Armin, Corsten, Solarstone etc etc). I think you'll find they're the artists most commonly mentioned though.. just listen to some livesets and you'll be set

Armin pres. Gaia - 4 Elements, not a track that got a ton of attention, but... I think it would be a great encore track. Good closing feel to it imo, was released back in 2001 on club culture. Don't know if it has been pressed since. Chris Raven mix on b-side sucks, but the original is classy. =)
