mine was in Panama City, FL [Tyndall] in August...for 29 days. and we didn't have air conditioning for the first 4 or so - which really are the shittiest days to begin with.

so i went to bed, wet with sweat....and i woke up still soaked with humidity.

granted there were some fun things we did [obstacle course, leadership reaction courses, warrior runs], but overall, i just disliked my whole experience. but then again, i went to Field Training - not Basic Training. so what we did was a little different.

but in retrospect, if you think about it, we got 3 meals a day. got a LOT of exercise and time out doors. had places to live in. went "camping" for a few days. and we got paid for it. [granted it was less than $1 an hour...]. i was probably in some of the best shape of my life down there.

29 days?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

90 days? fuck that.

but then again, that's all you had to do to get to where you are.

i spent 4 years of ROTC, plus FT, plus 5 years of school.

ps, we did have MTIs at our encampment too - some scary shit to wake up to. haha

we got a CD with all the pictures our CTA took during the time. it's kinda creepy/scary/cool [all at the same time] to go back and look at them.

just think, it could always be worse. you could be in antartica or some really really remote location. if you think japan gets old fast....just think of seeing nothing but sand or snow for miles on end.

i feel the original poster's pain (tubular i think?), but i've felt worse i believe
i used to play ultimate frisbee, and especially considering all the shit we got for being not a real sport, we got more frequent injuries than almost any other sport at my high school. to be honest its a fairly masochistic sport, you have to be willing to throw your body as fast as you can in any direction at any time with no regard whatsoever for how and where you land.
so i played at an indoor place a half hour or so away during the winter since its new england and snow = teh suck. so yeah, indoor fields are nice, but holy shit turf sucks. i lay out on my side so i ALWAYS land on the right side of my body, right by the hip. so to get an equivelant for the beating i took that night, imagine doing sprints on turf, except right at the end of the turf, you slide on your side as fast and as far as you can. i had about a half a square foot of skin just ripped the fuck off.

here comes the shower pain. so not only is there raw skin there, but there are those tiny fucking black rubber balls from the turf that are all stuck in there, and if i leave them there they'll just get scabbed over and increase chance of infection and whatnot, so i gotta get em out. so basically, imagine ripping a section of skin off, and scrubbing as hard as you can at it for a solid 20 minutes with soap. i literally had to lie down for a minute after i was so weak, and i have a pretty fucking high pain tolerance.

hot damn i ramble when i'm drunk. but somehow my spelling is impecable for the most part

one time my friend took a huge poop in the bathroom at my old apartment, and it plugged up the toilet and the plumbing... so like 20 min after he leaves i go into the bathroom to take a shower and i see shit chunks and dirty water coming up from the shower drain, all bubbling around...

i freaked out and called the front desk and told them their plumbing in the building was fucked. hahah the doorman must have been so freaked out, i was like hysterical on the phone and he couldn't do anything about it since it was like 10pm at night.

i ended up just letting the bathwater run to try to clear the shit out... but i still complained the next day to the landlord because i was freaked out that the shower and toilet plumbing were somehow connected.
