PKC has a good point about this being the wrong thread though. Arguing over the intertnet is useless you say... Exactly why is that true? Other thing is that stealing software is unfair to those who worked hard to pay for it, more so for those who worked even harder to creat it. Nomatter what your point is this is not the place to discuss stealing software. |
just to claify. i did actually buy the software, i bought it off ebay and thought it was the original version. but i still dont have a problem with downloading stuff off the net. not that i feel i have to explain myself. so you can shuf your condescending remarks up your whole pkcRAISTLIN. end of.
i dont no why people complain, its none of their business. when i started producing i used cracked software (fruity loops) to see if i wanted to start producing. i did and therefore invested in cubase and reason so sometimes bad turns to good. fruity loops is like what 100 to buy where as i paid 250 for reason and 400 for cubase. now i think steinberg and propellerheads should be thanking me for using cracked software in the first place.

its not legit software? go figure!!
not really its been proven that file sharing has actually helped music sales. So your argument is bullshit in that regard.

| Originally posted by pkcRAISTLIN nope. all my DVDs are bought & paid for, all my CDs are legit, all my records are legit. the only illegal things i have is mp3s for which im awaiting a vinyl release. dont go round judging people by your own low standards, halfwit. to be honest tho i shouldnt be so harsh. someone that cant figure out how to work around the software protection or even ask a question in the right forum surely isnt gonna be making anything worthwhile with cubase or any other illegal software. actually there are those of us that buy all the software we use. |
I originally used a cracked version of FL Studio until I got comfortable with it, then I bought it from the store.
I would never spend hundreds of dollars on something I have no idea what i'm doing with
lol, sounds like he bought a pirated version of cubase off ebay.
Buy the software

In a lot of cases it greatly reduced CD and particularly vinyl sales, resulting in quite a few labels and a couple of distribution companies folding... not cool when you work for one of these companies (I know people who worked for these companies and became unemployed as a pretty much direct result of illegal mp3 sharing) |
if a piece of software is sold new or second hand then the protection key that is required to run it should be supplied with it. if it isnt then it is blatantly stealing. if you were stupid enough to pay for a faulty item then contact ebay and use your buyer protection fund thing they offer. and report the seller.
the fact is that you now have a copy of cubase that steinberg have not received money for, but the c**t that sold you the copy has profited. so you should seek your money back from the seller and pay full price for the legit copy. simple as that.
copyright theifs are the reason software is so expensive. they have to make up for the loss of earnings so drop it on the honest people.
i contacted ebay and they said that they will refund 2/3 of my money. hopefully they kick that bollocks off ebay.

Not sure if anyone replied with this, but yes there is a dongle crack.
I used one from a friend whilst I was deciding if I was going to buy it.
In the end I bought it fair and square.
An interesting point though is, who is worse, those that offer the cracks or those that buy them.
You could argue that they give someone who might not otherwise be able to afford it, the chance to be creative and that the real crime is that crackers are making money out of someone elses creation in terms of software.
If it really is a question of money then there are other cheaper options that are equal to or better on certain points. All sequencers have their pros and cons.
Cubase is definately good, but so is FL, Reason and Sonar. Reason excluded they all really depend on what you use with them rather than the app itself and ulitmately on you.
Just out of interest, how much did you pay on e-bay?
Cheers
