Sawasdee Karp,

Back and what a great time I had even though I went with my older brother & my Dad.

It cost us $1300 + $ $140.00 insurance which got us Flight on 747 to Bangkok, flight too Phuket, 8 nights @ the Patong Beach Lodge, Flights back too Bangkok, 6 nights @ The Grand China Princess (Don't Recommend).

In Patong hire a Scooter if game enough & in Bangkok catch Taxi Meter - around 60baht each trip beats the Tuk Tuk who will try and charge 200baht for same journey. Very Cheap to eat I recommend the Number 6 bar best Squid in Garlic Pepper ever 100baht & all other food is great & cheap.

By Dvd's in Patong cheaper than Bangkok. Get your Clothes in Bangkok @ Puhtunahm Market get good deal when buying 10+ 100-120baht for grouse Diesel/Von Dutch etc. Goto Sampeng Market in Chinatown for good shopping also!!!!

Met a beautiful (Soi Jing Jing) thai girl named (Wasana/On/Anna) on the second night in Bangla Road she was serving drinks @ her friends bar (Joy Bar) in Soi Dragon. She eyed me off the Previous night @ another friends bar where she go after work Right up the back of the Tiger Beer bar as far as you can walk down left side can't remember the name? People always ring the bell which means 'shout the bar'

Took her & 7 friend in back of Tuk Tuk to Safari Club (can recommend) after we spent time in the bar accross from Bangla on The Main Street. Out of the 14 nights I never spent 1 night in the hotel I was staying @ !!!! Party, Party & More Partying!!!! Anna then came too Bangkok with us & took us too many places without her would have had trouble.

I'm going back in July not sure dates new special have just come out can fly Thai return for $916.00 from Melb. Then travel AirAsia from Bangkok to Patong stay 14 nights for 2 people about 10000baht not much at all, then will go and visit Anna's family up North then most likely we will both fly back to Melbourne!!!!

Stupid me when got out of Taxi lost my camera/video with over 220 photo's & video on it. Might be lucky to get it back has offered a reward to taxi company thanks to Anna who also speak great English.

Would have been good to be their with some TA's or mates but had the trip of my life, and the next will be better as I know where to go now.

Will had more info soon as i'm still feeling jetlag & tired has slept for 3 hours everynight over in thai if I slept @ all

Anyway good luck to those who are heading over, might see you their in July for some times!!!!

Here's the thing, the decision to do this trip only came about last week really. However I estimate a minimum of 3K will be required (budgeting 3.5K with spending money), which I should have before November. I'll whack as much as I can on the credit card

rough estimate...

1150 = food 23 days @ $50 AUD per day
1150 = accom 23 days @ $50 AUD per day
525 = airfare (outbound: Thai Airways(TG) Syd to Bangkok = $525 AUD (or 30,000 QF points to fly Qantas), inbound: Singapore to Sydney (Singapore Air) = 35,000 KrisFlyer points)
800 = spending
------------------
3625 total

we'll find ways to reduce cost on accommodation and flights (use loyalty points, sleep on people's floors, on the beach, etc. if possible)

With your budget you should have alot of change, meals should cost no more than $30aud a day.

$25 - $40aud will get u ***/**** hotel.
Remember a *** hotel is like a **** in Melbourne!!!!!!!!

Shopping T-shirts about 100BHT - 140BHT always barta.
Whatever they say u cut in half ie. 600BHT = 300BHT that way u have room to work on price!!!!!

FOOD

In Restaurants expect to pay about :
100BHT = Plate of Squid in Garlic Pepper
80BHT = Plate of Fried Rice with Seafood
100BHT = 6 Spring Rolls
70BHT = Heineken Stubbie (Buy Long Necks Cheaper 110BHT) or Drink CHANG 'Elephant Beer' 6.4% & 60BHT

Also buy your beer @ Family Mart or 7/11. Long neck CHANG = 39BHT!!!

If in PATONG BEACH, try to eat of the street carts where all the locals eat.

A good Restaurant is The No.6 across from GOODS SEAFOOD
(Rat-U-Thit 200 PEE ROAD)

Grab the Bag & Maps at PHUKET Airport it's listed on Map.

On Rat-U-Thit 200 PEE Road, North of Bangla Road there are a lot of good stall looking restaurants under canopies, Much to choose from fresh as & Cheap $$$$$$$$ Might be Night Only???

* Have you booked your flight from BKK to PHUKET?
No = http://www.airasia.com
(very cheap!!!) 2,993.86THB (BKK - PHUKET RETURN)
New Planes 2006!!!

For my trip end of July, i've booked flight to Udon Thani, Krabi
Return from Phuket for 2 people using AirAsia.com. E-Tickets u just print your Itenairy they send to your email & show when checking in, very easy & cheap best of all no travel agent fees!!!

* For Hotels Try - http://www.hotels2thailand.com/
I'm staying in **** hotel 2people cost $221aud for 7nights.
There's Hotels to Suit every budget!!!!

Hope this helps u party people!!!!!

Has anyone been on the James Bond tour?
Is it worth the $$?

Any one recommend any tours in Phuket - Koh Samui - Koh Phangan - Koh Tao ?

Posted by Trance Nutter on Aug-27-2006 10:43:

woot, I'm probably off too.

Borneo's been scrapped for the FMP in january.

Probably gonna fly over on Jetstar ($900) then maybe a day or two in Bangkok or Koh Samui, about 7 days on Koh Phangan (NYE, Full moon and a few days either side), and then back.

Should be sweet!

Going to Bangkok and Koh Samui in Feb for 10 hot (and dry) days

Anf I am in Bangkok/Koh Samui from 26th November to 5th December so I just miss you!!! We decided to give the Full Moon party a miss as it changed our holiday to much (as I would have just done Earthcore not sure how much partying I want to do).

I did a similar trip in 2001 but it ended in a bit of drama as I was mugged leaving the Green Mango. Cant wait to ride an elephant and drink lots of cocktails while being massaged again! Our trip was $1600 each including accommodation flying direct with Thai!

Posted by eRRaTiK on Oct-16-2006 03:12:

well it was a conservative budget :P

won't be going this year. as life would have it my priorities changed and travel has moved down the list, but I definitely plan on hitting up SEA within a few years.

Posted by charlee on Oct-16-2006 03:14:

As I was there five years ago I am not sure how much things have changed. What is the average cost fo a meal in a restaurant? How much money should I have saved for 8 days (with shopping in bangkok).
