Someone said, "It's about the music and not the DJ". If that was indeed the case, then we could just put the latest radio mix or latest CD of our favorite DJ in to a CD player and blast it on the Crobar speakers.

Again maybe I'm in minority, but it is about the music not the DJ. I've had such crazE nights in gods knows where listening to DJ Anonymous. Don't get me wrong, to a certain extent it is about the DJ. he's the one (insert EDM verb here) with crowd. Believe me, it's never better to listen to a radio mix on any system as opposed to an average DJ. A good fiend once told me that "a good DJ plays for the crowd live and for himself on a CD".

I agree to a certain extent --- I too have had crazy nights listening to DJ Anonymous (Not in New York, though). Also, your statement regarding CDs and Radio mixes is right on --- that's why we like seeing DJs live and that's why we cheer when Piet Blank pumps his fist in the air. I agree that "it's about the music", but I have a serious problem with the rest of your statement, namely, "not the DJ". I'd have a hard time thinking of something with which I disagree more, as without the DJ we have no music (And, I suppose, vice versa). You can't criticize fans of a DJ that 'worship' him no more than you can criticize a DJ for encouraging it, it's all part of the scene, and I'd rather face the DJ, scream his name, and jump like a madman when the best tracks come on. I love and know the music, but I also go for the atmosphere, much of which is established by the DJ.

when the trancedm is good i dance mostly with
my eyes closed no need to chat flirt or have a drink
suddenly dj's location becomes secondary as music
becomes the most pleasurable and inspiring as the
sense of time lapses and connectedness arises...

;)

I'm gonna have to side with Doombot here

Agreed. If you go out every weekend, you're gonna start finding things to complain about whether they are there or not.
