For me, staying up requires no special preparations, it just comes naturally if i'm interested in what's going on.

For me, it's all in the mind. I can stay awake for 100 hours and function well if I wanted to (and I can usually fall asleep any time (after over 4 hours awake time) I wish as well), as long as the activity I'm doing is actually _active_ (so none of studying, playing RPGs, riding in a bus/train/flying in a plane/sailing in a ship/etc, listening to soft music, web surfing, film watching, or anything else that has 'idle' time). Usually, I would start to get tired after about 30 hours, but as long as I'm active, I can keep going & going.

I wonder how long I'd go for if I were constantly hiking & listening to my iRiver audio device ;-)...
