As said, many characteristics that define differing cultures and beliefs are based in the world of the irrational. Maybe hate here is a strong word. If you speak to many individuals from nations like these, they may not have something against this sexual orientation specifically, but rather the fact that it is being advertised.

Of course that is only one part of the demographic. I'm sure that there are many out there that are just simply ignorant.

Edit: as far as openly, yes it applies to gays and not Blacks because you can be a closet gay and not a closet Black.
