I agree. It looks like police forces are actually working for their wages.

I just hope that all of them are infact guilty, and we can just lock them up. Hopefully others will also get the message and stay away.

+1 Thank you! I was just thinking the exact same thing...

So many innocent, hard-working & contributing Canadians are under suspicion / wrongly accused strictly because of their country of origin or their last names. I just hope "the authorities" have substantial proof to back up their claims... and I use that term lightly.

Posted by fairy godfather on Jun-03-2006 17:23:

Scary things...and we all think it could never happen here!!

Posted by malek on Jun-03-2006 17:24:

yes the "authorities" woke up and said, yeah lets just randomly pick 19 guys with arab names, and lets throw in a steve in the mix to make believe its a well researched operation... suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure.

Posted by Goashem on Jun-03-2006 17:31:

umm i believe they were caught with ridiculous amounts of explosives so i doubt it was unfounded suspicion

They haven't released those kinds of details... three tonnes of some compound were seized, but you think they were just walking around town with it?

Let's see how it pans out before drawing knives.

I find this really scary, as some one said above, I was one of those people with my head in my ass, and never really thought something like that would happen in Canada. I've been watching CNN, and been on their web site ever since I heard about it, very scary shit.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Assistant Commissioner Mike McDonell said at a news conference;

"To put this in context, the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City that killed 168 people took one ton of ammonium nitrate."

Source www.cnn.com

These terrorist had three tonnes. Wow.

I really don't think you were the only one unfortunately about half of the people on this forum for the longest time were like that...and that's a shame I think back in the day, especially after sept 11th I remember having a lot of arguments about this issue with people here and everyone was laughing at me.

I just went by the Puma store in TO this afternoon and saw they have some Canada stuff in there

I guess I should go and pick a sig too thanks for the heads up

three tonnes of ammonium nitrate.. anyone could've made in their backyard.

No need to sensationalize "omg they could've blown up CN Tower"... just say "3 tonnes.. they could've hurt a lot of people."

Please.. let us not fall into the trap that many other countries have.. that is paranoia and voting for ridiculous security measures. I'd really rather not Canada become a police state. Custom's officers should be thorough and do what's necessary, but remain friendly as many times they are the welcoming party of a country. In the United States there are now training programs to make Customs officers seem more approachable.

Let's just admit that there are things out of our control and that we're lucky we found out before they did anything.

arent most of these people born and raised canadian though?

Posted by Euphorica on Jun-03-2006 18:25:

yeah many of them are 2nd generation etc. wtf!

fucked up. why do I feel the need to buy a gun or soemthing

some of them lived close to me.

Posted by starsearcher on Jun-03-2006 18:30:

I don't understand why it's such a big surprise to so many people? As someone mentioned it's been known for a long time that terrorist groups are operating in Canada...I thought nothing was being done about it but I'm certainly glad to see that the authorities actually are taking care of business, good job!

Canada is the land of the mediocre.

The spineless people of Canada are too busy bickering about stupid issues while being invaded by hordes of people who only want to enjoy the freebies and liberties.

god damn the charters of rights and liberties.

Dude, I thought you'd be a little more intelligent about this sort of thing. I guarantee you are taking your above example TOTALLY out of context and making it look like the reason the lady was refused entry was because she had a language problem. That's such utter bullshit.

And with regard to the terrorism, I truly hope and pray that whatever was being planned has been fully averted.

Maybe Canada should get the fuck out of Afghanistan now and leave the international illegal invasions to the U.S.

I disagree with that statement...why would we sit and be scared of some extimist fucks? Just cause they told us to get out of Afghanistan we should do it?

dude, BOTH should have been refused. One for not speaking the languages, the other for OBVIOUS NON-INTEGRATION reasons... geez, we're not 12 years old anymore. Lets talk about the real stuff here.

Let me ask you, who is the fucking moron that will hire that ninja? WHO? She'll come here, take welfare, enjoy free hospitals to give birth to 14 kids... geez.

...and then she'll try and get a driver's licence and when they'll tell her to take the thing off she'll refuse...then sue the government for discrimination...and we'll spend a few more thousands/millions of taxpayer's dollars arguing about the legitimacy of all this...

^ that's happened in the US not too long ago
