Just learn

Everyone has thier own taste. You can't say "hey how do I sound like him?" because you never will. You can however be influenced by his style, sound, and overall audio architecture. What i have learned in my 3.5 years of producing on a professional platform ( which is also up for debate. Started in Fruity for 2 now on SX for 3.5) is that everyone has to sequence and learn, and make patches and learn. These forums have helped me and Full Sail helped me, but in the end it has been my own drive to make beautiful music that has been the ultimate instigator into the realm of great sonic quality. My Virus TI, JP 8080, and the Vengence Clubsounds have also helped quite a bit. If you haven't already, look into those.

Cheers to all and to all the best,
D-JADE

So this is my first post in this part of the forum, I have recently got into producing and im just using my PC right now. Im using Reason 3.0... The reason I post this topic is because im having serious trouble coming up with some decent sounding Basslines and I was wondering if you guys have any hints, tips or tutorials that could help me out in creating some decent ones?

P.S I used the search and it came up with nothing!

Thanks in advance
TazZ-erT

Gotta love how this doofusproof method of drawing attention only draws the wrong kind of attention.

The title for me worked, because it has generated some really good replies

This is probably the most annoying way of trying to get people to view your thread. Dont be surprised if many people will take your questions very seriously. If you think these are 'good replies' you havent been here long then...

insert a instance of your favorite vst and just start moving knobs around to you fully understand what each of them do and what sounds they make

jeese guys. chillout. the guy has got your attention so either ignore him or give him advise. dont waste more time slating him.

i quite liked the thread title..haha

anyways. why not try listening to tried and tested tracks that you like. take not of the bassline and modify it by one note. when youre happy with your bassline you have made then work from there... that should work until you get an idea of where you wanna go.

hope that helps.

Why do you keep bumping this awful thread?

so reason is good for learning and making very good tracks, but not the best.

on the other hand i think Haak is still using reason and his shit sounds out of space so i realy must be missing something.

Do you even know what you're talking about?
Reason is more than fine for producing professional quality tracks.
Only thing Reason really lacks is in the synths. There's only two, albeit powerful ones. Reason is an excellent learning tool, yes. It's very easy to use. But don't ever say that you can't make quality tracks with it, that's just not true. You just have to work a little harder because of the limitation of synths.

That's why God invented the combinator.

Thats also why jesus had to die on the cross to atone for the sins commited in this thread.

Sorry, but my tip is....stop using reason (ouch).. know that one put flames in some eyes.

But my point is that, i started with reason, and it is a great software, yes, but when if finally walked over to using Ableton, Vsts and real hardware, i dont know, but producing just got little more easy, didnt have to tweak the hell out of my sound anymore to make it sound good

Hehe! It would seem that I've heard so many listenable trance tracks made with Reason. BUT, when I logically look at Reason I see limitations (no VST support, no Audio in, no progressive-riff knobs yessir).

Reason, however, would make a great Rewire client. Dude, I wish I had an extra $500 laying around. It would also seem that Reason users have a fetish for excellent sounding high-hat lines -- I always hear the Reason tracks with good hat-lines.

now does anyone want to really produce like avb nowadays? or do you mean produce the sounds/tunes he plays/djs on ASOT?

i dunno what happened with ol' armin...his own tracks that he's been producing lately haven't been very stellar....
