i think its funny ho you plan to show her cheese in order to get her intro trance..kinda defies the purpose of showing her good music. Im sure your musical tastes are pretty crappy and i don't blame her for not liking them....

Posted by v3ct0r on Jun-10-2006 23:32:

Just refuse to dive into the carpet until she smartens up and decides to listen to stuff worth listening to. That or handcuff her to the bed for a little type of fun and start blaring the PvD or Armin or whatever you had in mind.

Just break up with her now.. it's inevitable.

It's probably better than anything else.

Oh and...

Really says something about the genre.... amirite?

LOL

Did you just seriously draw a factual self-conclusion from a non-existent entity?

All things begin with nu and all things end with ......

Nice one...full of good modern trance tracks.

ISOS 1-3 for some older stuff.

Buy her Crazy Frog and tell her to shut the fuck up. Or break up with her. Either way, you aren't going to change her opinion of your music.

IMO its very very important for a couple to have the same taste in music...i will not go out with a girl whos into hip hop or reggeaton...

If it went that way I'd never find a girl.

Wait, it does seem it goes that way.

Start her on house then bring it right up to the trance FTW (maybe sly it in a house set mixed by you for her).

Most people go the other way-

I sugges rather than trying to get her into trance, you get her into EDM.

i understand your troubles dude; maybe not in the relationship field, but at least in trying to get others to enjoy the music i love so much. i've done several things that have worked for different people. might want to give it a shot. and give it some time, everybody falls in love with it after a while:

1) Sasha's 2006 WMC set. i loved this set, gave it to my roommate (who's a fan but not a hardcore fan), who gave it to his girlfriend (not normally fan). both of them went crazy for it, and immediately asked me for more similar sounding things.

2) remixes or popular "cheese" tracks as you call them.
examples: fallen - gabriel and dresden,
don't leave home (dido) - gabriel and dresden,
hung up - madonna (and madonna's new cd),
btw, if she likes 60's music, she should love hung up. the instrumental part in the background was taken directly out of an ABBA song: gimme, gimme, gimme.
southern sun - oakie,
talk (coldplay) - junkie XL,
everything in its right place (radiohead) - mike foyle, etc

3) make your own cd. i've done this numerous times. if people want hardcore, i give them hardcore. if people want "the best" i give them tranceaddict's top 100 list. if people want chillout, i give them chillout. you kind of have to experiment with what they like, and give them similar stuff. here's my most recent cd playlist that i've given to at least 20 people and they've all enjoyed it:
http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~benoitj/...of%20Summer.pdf

4) desperate measures: smoke up, and then listen to any of the top 3; eventually they'll realize it's just amazing, and slowly take away the weed and they'll just be left with the music. i'm not a fan of smoking, but i have several friends with which this definitely worked.

:: Actually answers the question ::

PVD's "Politics Of Dancing", Tiesto's "Nyana" and any of the "Euphoria" albums. But yeah, it usually depends on the person

hey! i answered the question...well not really; i don't think you can just give one album; you need to mix and match

It's a simple concept. I think that if you love someone, or even really like them enough to be in a relationship with them, you would probably at least respect the things that are important to your partner, even if you may not like them.

I'm sure you did, I was just too lazy to read the rest of the thread, but yeah, personally I would recommend someone not familiar with dance with a bit of everything (except chav-style happy hardcore)

IMO the best way to get people hooked to this genre is to make them listen to some good hard vocal trance. works 8/10 times. many people don't like trance because they expect vocals to be a part of the music. vocal trance is the gateway. give her remixes of some popular pop artists or some really cool vocal tunes.

show her videos of some awesome gigs. http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...15&pagenumber=1

Search this forum. paul van dyk - live at dance valley 2005 is pretty cool. let her see others gettin crazy listening to this stuff. might just turn her on
