C'mon Vernon, you didn't even correct him by saying that Crobar isn't even in the meat-packing district. Meat-packing is below 14th on the far west side. Crobar's in Chelsea, which is one of the more gay neighborhoods, about 20 blocks north of the MPD.

Also, the original poster had the DJ order mixed up. The DJs in the small room were Zizack and his girlfriend Kerrine, both TAs. I think they opened the main room at 11:30, but we stayed in the small one until a bit after midnight when they finished. When I went into the main room, Satoshi was already on. Then Sasha came on, then Lavelle at like 3-3:30, then Sasha came back on and played a sick set from 5-7, which is when they closed. He dropped Orbital - Halcyon + On + On, which is the 2nd time I've seen him play it in the past 16 months, and Xpander with a different bassline.

That said, guidos suck. I don't know which I hate more, them or the asian FOBs who can't control their drugs and like to start gang fights in clubs (even more than the guidos )

good news, i was in between the washing machine agitators and the shirtless dudes all night.

Posted by sot on Jun-14-2006 00:00:

lol

def the fobs piss me off more..im standing my ground no fobs aroudn somehow few of em come to my area then all of a sudden im pushed into taiwan land and was in middle of all fob's.. took me a minute to realize once i did i was like WTFFF goddamnit..gotta push through these mofo's which is hard considering 8 of them are grabbing eachother like that train dance from the mid 90's rolling there heads back and forth lmao

Posted by KarenLuvs2Party on Jun-14-2006 00:32:

I went to CROBAR NYC back in OCT for Sander K and there were no washing machines. I say there was maybe 15-20 fobs but of them just rock back and forth.. no agitation cycle at all.

And yeah, CROBAR is filled with these pushy loud mouth perverted fools.

I mean at least in Cali, once you turn em down.. they get the hint. Nah, these dumb idiots hit on you.. get rejected.. and come back in an hour hoping that you are so incoherent you dont remember that they hit on you earlier.

And their idea of hitting on you is grabbing your arm and shaking you to get you to dance.. UGH!

Don't forget to mention, there is no place to sit in the club unless you are VIP.

Posted by R!CH on Jun-14-2006 01:02:

damn i guess we're really lucky in sf, washing machines are a small minority even in the crackiest clubs. i can't recall seeing more than maybe a half dozen maytags on any given night. and as rude and pushy as they are you can always escape them in another part of the crowd. i think the guidos are worse only because they take up more real estate and are probably a lot more aggressive/confrontational

That's not always true.

See this thread to see how my night at Hawtin went on the 2nd. At least with a guido, you MIGHT be able to difuse the situation because they speak English.

Also, we had a few incidents back on NYE '04->'05 with them using keys/knives to stab people when they got into fights. PvD on NYE was closed early because of fights, and Avalon NYC had an incident the night before where someone was stabbed. Both times it was asian gangs.

BTW, here's a pic from later in that thread that got posted on Resident Advisor. Welcome to NYC.

Dunno

hmm well we don't really have gang violence/shiving issues in our night clubs, not even socal from my experience. one guy was shot and killed in 1015 for pvd but it was premeditated by some chic he knew, not like a random crowd fight. that was the first time that's ever happened there and they really buckled down on security afterwards so i'm never really concerned about my safety in the clubs. how are knives allowed in these clubs anyway?

Posted by Clovis on Jun-14-2006 01:44:

I just want to know what kind of lives these people lead outside of clubs

Hiphop clubs take the brunt of that front here

They pat you down coming in to all the big clubs in NYC. I don't know how it happened either time, but I heard the PvD stabbing was with keys. Also, if you've got a knife that folds down or a boxcutter, you can probably jam in under your foot in your shoe and bypass security.

I shudder to think what people are able to bring into Avalon LA since they have absolutely 0 security at the door doing any kind of searches.

Pacha NYC was like that the first few times I went (Lawler, Cox NYE, Zabiela), but at Chris Liebing 3 weeks ago they were frisking.

It's rather scary when you think about it, but what are you going to do, stay at home and miss out on everything because there are some fucked up people out there?? Just like every day in NYC, you've just gotta hope it doesn't happen to you.

BTW, NYTA sucks today, that's why I'm browsing other local forums. I hope I'm not discouraging anyone who's in town from coming out. My girlfriend and I go out an average of at least once a week and 2 weeks ago was the first time anything remotely bad has happened to us while out in 2 years together.

well 1015 makes people put all their shit in plastic tubs and they wand you down, pat you and tickle your balls, and either fumble with your shoe tongue or make you take your shoes off. other clubs that never have an issue don't search you at all, some even have free ins and outs.
