cielo is an amazing club and i'm sure you'll have a great time - i just think that in general "private" parties are lame - making any party "private" or exclusive to only ppl who have connections is just stupid of you ask me - this scene is so small and we shouldn't be excluding ppl - rather the scene should embrace others and try to attract others to it. any sort of exclusivity is just a big turn off for me - and richie throws "private" parties at demf so i am also bashing on my favorite dj

It's lame because it's all industry people and people who get to know him because they're DJ whores (no offense). I could care less if I go into the booth or on stage, which is why we don't.

Sasha's small party there 3 months ago wasn't industry only, they just sold 300 tickets to fans, announced via his website's mailing list. Ferry could have done the same.

Christina would have gotten us in to this, because she knows his wife, but there's that whole deal with her stolen interview from WMC last year, so she doesn't even want to ask because she's afraid she'll remember.

The point I was making is that being a "DJ whore" doesn't make you more of a fan, yet those are the fans that can go to this party.

I mean, I realize that you like to get your vinyl signed, but personally, I'd never wait in line as long as I've seen you wait at parties. You're also trying to network because you DJ. That's how you get to know them and get into events like this, but why I don't, that's all.

What the hell are you talking about? All I said was "Yes!! We're DJ whores. LET'S GO USA! " And I'm not going to argue about why I bring vinyls to get signed blah blah.

as ryan said it's his personal album release private party. not ment to exclude people, but rather INCLUDE his personal people, industry people, etc. Hence the tuesday night gig, if it were to be more geared toward a public avenue, then I can see possibly a thursday or weekend event.

Sorry, I thought there was sarcasm in there. I think it's cool that you get your vinyls signed, why would I argue. I was just trying to explain my original comment because I thought you were offended by it.

Not at all, sir.

hehe I find this kind of funny bc I have never needed to meet a DJ in my life (aka DJ whore) and I am CERTAINLY not in the industry. Nor are the friends I am going with.
I am not going beg for anything to be signed (haha yeah right, I have never asked for anything to be signed in 6 years of partying). I am going for the music, the small venue, my friends, and because Ferry is a very chill guy who treats his fans pretty damn awesome.

Besides, before I was even invited, I was not complaining of Ferry having a private party, because the man gave us 6 great months of residency...he is not the type to consistently "exclude" people into private parties.

So explain how you got invited.

Brian, that wasn't cool. I didn't see much of a problem in the first place, but I'd have argued that with you when you PMed me if I had posted, rather than ignored you. At least he gave reasons why he didn't like Chicago. Much worse than what he posted before is put all over TA on a daily basis, whether it's the COR, MD, PD, or other local forums.

I thought when you became the mod, you said you weren't going to be like the police. Censorship over something stupid like that isn't necessary, especially when you're letting other things slide because you think they're best left ignored.

Sorry, don't take it personal. I expected that this would happen, and having to bitch to my friends, whether it was you or Dani, about this was one of the reasons I opposed the NYTA mod in the first place. I'm just waiting for the day when you do the same to me.

In Yankee's defense I dont think she should reveal her sources. Especially not here to the public...think about the many scorned Ferry fans that arent going and what they may do if they found out.

she def. shouldn't, but i believe groundhog's point was that the invite, in and of itself, constituted some degree, however small, of "industry-ness."

I stand behind what I did whether people agree with me or not. If I'm not mistaken you had quite the voice about this character. Provoking him would only do what? We can be adults right or act like little kids and defame other cities?

And you want to disagree with my actions? I bet you would have had a better time if he came in here and started hell. And I would have received the same grief if I closed this thread earlier on.

And if you think I'd do the same thing to you, I would expect that you'd act like an adult and properly convey your opinion without defaming a city. Otherwise, I'd think your response would be childish. Either way, with a mod or without a mod, someone is the bad guy right? Ian or Me....

Honestly, with your response and the PMs, I can't believe how you and the other mods are making everyone else tip-toe around this asshole, but allowing him to stay.

Secondly, my main complaint with the justitification for editing this particular post is that the person in question has repeatedly in the past stated that he doesn't like Chicago, so why would he come back in an react negatively? Editing the post hardly prevented his retaliation from happening, as it wouldn't have happened anyhow.

Even still, if we've got to worry that someone's going to retaliate and a flame war will erupt every time someone makes a controversial statement, and as a result you pre-emptively edit posts and close threads, that's just wrong. That's why I said that you would in the future do this to me, because I'm not exactly the most PC person on here.

Lastly, why would I have given you grief if you'd have closed the thread before this all happened? If you're not going to allow people to respond, you might as well close it. I'm not a huge fan of either, but closing threads is better than unilaterally removing what you don't like and leaving in what you do. At least then, no one gets to comment.

In a perfect world, everyone would have been perceptive enough to realize who this was, so they would have just ignored him, as I attempted to initiate when I posted this morning to point out that this is this kid's 3rd account. IGNORE HIM!

My point and justification have been made, but do what you want. I was just stating my opinion that it was uncalled for to edit posts.

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Jun-14-2006 21:46:

He was given a plenty of time to edit his post.

I dont think I need to justify myself or my actions.

I take you like to deliberate over things, why is that? Do you enjoy arguing over things? I did what I did and you would have equal chance to edit your post.

Enough of this, it's over.

hehe dont worry I wasn't going to anyways The person who invited me was simply sweet enough to think of me.

Konijn: hey dood I was just goin to mention that if "industry-ness" means that I know people, then yes, that applys to me. However, these people that I know are friends, aquaintances, and people that I care about, not people that I use to get tickets or on stage. I dont get down like that (and the people who know me can agree...)

anyways enough of the jacking of the thread, seriously. Back to the topic at hand.

What you just said was the point I was getting at. YOU may not be industry or someone who goes up to the booth, but someone you are close with is.

Posted by ledgemaster on Jun-14-2006 22:54:

WTF?!

you, my friend, need to go back to chicago if you think nyc is lame. go back to your cubs, your fatty winters, etc. clubs in chicago really do suck, i can understand you wanting to come here. if you are a models and bottles type of guy, go to gaudy miami. there are plenty of fine establishments in nyc, btw, you obviously are not in the know. if you think going to cheesy places like crobar or pacha are gonna get you that, you are mistaken.
