This post really makes no sense whatsoever. I'm sure the video can and will be encouraging to people who are starting out so they can see how easy it can be, but it doesn't change the fact that the track he composed there does not only sound cheap and amateurish but is so off key it actually hurts my ears.

Hrrm... how's that for a long sentence...

well that's exactly the point, you are having a laugh at a guy who made a beat in little more than a minute (no matter how ammature) with what looked like a random arrangement. he didn't put himself up as a contendor to a bunch that know shit about music in the first place did he? that accusation comes from the "off key" argument.
he sums up quite a bit minus the mixing, mastering, and that little bit of music, or music theory to be correct, that's needed for your genre. as for the type of beats he makes and the dissonances he chooses to fuck up into the melody is his bloody creative process, why not make fun of his chubby fingers while at it?
a couple of minutes compared to the hundreds of hours some of you spend on memorizing technique and scribbling tracks infinately short of originality is no reason to shame him for doing what he does, in the end, you and him strive for that one thing called vanity (in my oppinion)

Posted by bluebird on Jun-17-2006 20:29:

he's an enthusiast for god's sake! have you forgotten that you are too?!

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jun-17-2006 20:43:

Oh I see, there's no poorly made music, just different kind of creativity. Well played

The track is poorly made. It's a fact, not vanity. There's just no excuse to that.

Anyhow lets look at the bright side of things, surely you must have learnt something from his tutorial?
I learned def people can make music as well.

i`ve learned that playing on a midi keyboard can be fun and effective to do

already knew that, but didn`t see it in real life performed by some "noob".
i`ve seen profesionals, but they make things way to complicated right from the start.
great introduction video for me about thinking to get one, which the pro`s haven`t be able to.

Posted by bluebird on Jun-17-2006 20:49:

Well have it your way Mr.Mystery, have it your way. It's a poorly made track and there's nothing more to it since we choose to ignore a thing or two to justify the making of it.

Are you kidding? That video has over 6000 views hahaha, what some people are saying on a trance forum is the least of his concerns.

Posted by Thois on Jun-17-2006 21:49:

lol becoming famous is so easy these days

hahaha. true, look at the comments people have left him on youtube. (im assuming he is the one who uploaded it, as its the only video that user uploaded, and that video is featured on his website) it seems his skillz are being slated :|

Posted by substorm on Jun-18-2006 01:28:

Ohh for f**k sake, the guy is an idiot, There is nothing more to it. I dont claim to be an armin producer, thats why i never would do this kind of thing.

Second, if i where as famous like armin, i wouldnt do in anyway. So in my point of view, its just plain stuppid.

Third. if armin would do some kind of tutotial, i would at least know that he has something to offer.

This tutorial isnt a good start for any "noob" producer to see, i just feel sorry for the ones who start of this way, and for this guy who ended up this way.

The dude just made a fool out of him self, thats it.

+1

Gotta love common sense verses post-modern gray-zones.

Now I'll laugh in peace.

we`ll see

i started with a casio keyboard with a few seconds record function (on 4 drumpads)
and i could go totally wild on it :-)

it almost wasn`t respected by anyone, what counted was i liked it very much.

i was making the same stuff about 17 years ago, just like someone else
said in this topic, that he and his brother made that kind of music. or on that level i mean.
I think he`s got better in composing and making music, so why shouldn`t this guy get any better with the practise, just like we`ve all learned or still learn.

the type of "because he`s a loser reactions" can be left out, that`s so predictable.

Yeah - more or less all of us have done stuff like that at one point or another. It's a part of the learning process we all go through.

But did we share those tracks? Did we do tutorials about how we made them? Hell no, because we knew they were no good. But they made us happy.
