Yan is gone.
where the hell did he go?
he posts, he just chooses to not post here. quitter!
so i've had about a week to play mario hoops 3 on 3 and mario vs. donkey kong: march of the minis 2. i definitely am enjoying both games.
with mario hoops, all your dribbling, shooting, passing, special moves are done via the touchpad, while you control the characters on the court via the d-pad (if you are right handed) or the xyab buttons (if you are left handed like me). the point system is not your traditional 2 or 3 points a bucket game. a bucket is 20 or 40 points (depending on if you use a special move). a player adds more points to their total by dribbling over the question marks found all over the court for coins. the usual mario universe items are available, like the green/red/blue shells, peels, bombs, lightning, etc. i forgot how long each half is, i think 3 minutes. there are no out of bounds lines. it's definitely an interesting take on the game. i can imagine it getting boring after a bit if you have no one to play with (NOT wifi capable which is pretty dumb). there are drills where you can practice the skills, and i'm glad they were incorporated into the game because of how maddening it can be to use a stylus to do everything. even weirder for me is using my right hand to move my character across the court.
for mario vs. donkey kong, think lemmings meets old-school donkey kong games. in this game, mario and DK have opened up their own mini toy factory. at the opening, DK kidnaps pauline and takes her to the roof of the factory. mario has to go through all 9 floors + roof of the factory. you basically have to, using the touchpad, lead all the mini-marios within a stage to safety. it's a lot more fun than it sounds because it involves manipulation of levers and switches while paying attention to the minis to make sure that they don't get damaged within a stage.
sorry i don't have screenshots or anything. but that's my review of the games i got!
Finally got a DS today! Woot! I decided to finally spend the money because of all the great RPG titles coming out this fall/winter for the DS. I picked up Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow as my first game and hope to grab Meteos next.

Star Fox DS
first let me start of by saying get ready to use your stylus alot. suprisingly its not laggy or any bit at all rough in movement they did an excellent job of making the controls really smooth making it easy to make turns and change latitude. the use of the touch screen emerses almost every aspect of the game, double taps on the top screen for boostin double taps on the bottom half utilizes the breaks also a neat feature is aslong as you hold the tap is how long youll be either boostin or breakin, to preform barrel rolls you slide your pen from side to side, my favorite part of the game!!!
shootin is easy (any botton on the ds) this it as far as controls. this game really nails the use of the touch screen and it makes me excited for further games that use the touch screen for the majority of the game! as far as the gameing itself 5 stars!!! this game isnt exactly like the 64 version you are use to it has a strategy side to it as well! before missions a map will be displayed on the touch screen showing enemies your ship and your mother ship as well as enemie bases and enemy motherships. now the object is to destroy all enemies on the map... the catch is you have to do it in turns! by using your stylus you can draw the flight plan you want your availabe ships to fly( there is a limit to how far you can fly but by drawing lines through fuel cells on flight path can be increase it).. by flying into your enemies you will engage in battle
also on the map are items such as missles which your mothership uses to shoot at any enemy (when you choose to use them you also draw the flightplan of the missle!!!
as the game progresses you will recruit more flight fighters like slippy and flaco! each with differnt ablities and specialties.. overall this game is amazing so glad i went out and got it!!! and i ahvent even tried out the wifi battles yet and cannot wait to do so and plan on reviewin this aspect of the game...
sorry if my review sucked never done this before i hope this helps anyone out who owns a ds
chach
cheers.
also put in a preorder for final fantasy 3 cant wait till it comes out!
