I was there. Good set, not Sasha at his best though...

Have you heard the cd though? I was thinking that they may have just added that Stop Clock track during the editing of the cd so that it has an outro to go along with the intro, rather than fade out with Gebrunn Gebrunn.

That Fundacion (as a whole) was probably the worst one out of the 9 ive been to. BUT Sasha's first 2 hours were amazing......every time i listen to that CD....i remember what the room looked like....how dark it was.....how the lights where flashing......he realy set the mood of the night.....some might say this cd is boring....but if u were there and saw the magic sasha was creating....u would have a totaly different look on the CD. i love this cd....and ill even go as far as to say its probably his best "Album" as most of his albums are on the fluffy side....its good to see him going a bit minimal/dark.

Yep, heard it 3 times over after the club. And I was there.

Stop Clock may be there, but its just a bunch of white noise really, the last TRACK track is gebrunn gebrunn.

All this and has anyone, besides us who were acually there, heard the mix?

i have the CD and have now heard a couple of times. As said before, I wouldnt say it was mindblowing but it was certainly a good mix as a whole. I didnt quite get the vibe from it but I guess you had to be there to really really enjoy it...

I still think the CD is quite good, not the best, but good.

Is it really that much of a limited release?

According to his website, 10,000 copies, numbered. I got one of them.

BTW, Autographed #1 is up for auction on involedevents.com, proceeds to UNICEF(http://www.involvedevents.com/bins/...lates/pages.asp). I think it'll be on ebay in a few days, but for now, they have a bunch of DJ autographed World Cup jerseys available now.

After listening to this a few times, I agree that its not Sashas best effort to date. It lulls in the middle a bit but then comes in Espoo's Rose then Mallflowers into Gebrunn Gebrunn which totally kicks ass.

I wonder if hes gonna keep that fuck-up on the cds they send out or if theyll fix it.

I was wondering the same thing. It kills me everytime I hear it. Buildup...buildup...buildup...buildup...silence

Very minimal with little variation in sound!

Which CD is it in? I just got my CDs in the mail 10 minutes ago, so I'll let you know after I get through them.

Posted by GPC on Jul-11-2006 19:07:

CD2 about a minute or so into the first track.

Hahahahahaha, it's there. Not bad, it only took him 10 seconds to get music playing again.

That was the saddest part of the night. I just remember being on the dance floor, my attention fully to the man, peeking my balls off to that buildup.....then all of a sudden..... boooom!

What most of you guys dont understand is that while that happened.....Sasha is tripping NUTS! I can see he TOTALY got out of his zone and once the music started....his technician came to check out what happened with Ableton. As this is going on Sasha is still tripping the fuck out as he doesnt know what to do....he starts digging though his CDs..(he has almost everything on his laptop, on CD, just incase shit like this happens)...while that outro is being looped like a mofo....thats why you think it keeps dragging and dragging in the middle but in reality he is looking for a CD to throw in the CDJ....basically his worst nightmare came true right on the day of the recording...JUST SASHA'S LUCK!!

Anyway....so he finds the CD....mixes like a fuckin pro out of the Ableton onto CD....and then looks over at Ableton to see wtf is still wrong with it.....so as his technician is still trying to figure it out he looks for another CD to play. Finally finds it....mixes again like a champ.....and boom, Ableton starts to work! Mind you this is all happening without most of the people in the club knowing whats going on. People like Clovis, Bas, and I were totally glued to what he is doing....and we are like fuuuuuck....that was a great recovery....and of course done by non other than the man himself! But like I said.....this whole episode killed Sasha's zone. After Ableton started to work about another 15 mins go by and then you see him finally loosening up....thats when the "set" starts to pick up again. But in the end it was a fuckin sick set that I had the pleasure to listen to live, and be out of my FUCKING MIND

that's incredible; yea, sasha is indeed a badass. after listening to his WMC set this year, i starting becoming more and more a fan of him. i always enjoyed GU13 and airdrawndagger, but after that WMC set, i just started going crazy for them...

anyways got the live cds yesterday. i'm just at the end of CD1. i really enjoyed it. had a couple tracks i recognized, and just thought everything as a whole was solid. he didn't play the techie stuff that he's started getting into (i saw him at crobar in NY in march with digweed, and he started playing that kind of stuff...i wasn't too big a fan, but the night turned out all right). anyways, curious to hear what had happened in the set when i get to CD2...

a whole story about Ableton fucking up

It's not the first time Ableton runs out on him. I can imagine the horror when this happens to him, especially on a recording night. Last year he was in Amsterdam and Ableton (or his Mac) didn't work so he had to mix with cdj's. It happened before, so basically he has to bring a backup Mac with him standing by all the time

Overall I think his new cd is great. I enjoyed disc 1 better than disc 2 although I think the tracks on disc 2 are more in the style Sasha used to play. Cd 1 sounds like he is trying to catch up with the more minimal, "neotrance" sound of music. Just like Diggers is doing right now.

I'm gonna see Sasha this saturday at Extrema and am really looking forward to it Haven't heard him in a while.

Similar thing happened in DC back in April. His whole computer came crashing down to the ground and he had to play the rest of the night with CDJs, which proceeded to go out on him twice. Wasn't there, but here's the review from the NY thread - http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=335700

Posted by Phortastic on Jul-14-2006 16:13:

cd1 drags on too long, the mixing is boring at times. Could have been so much better if he mixed abit faster and threw in another track to make up for the shorter mixing. The trackselection is mostly good though.

cd2 is better imo. Monkeybreak ownz bigtime and from the fantastic Minilogue & K.A.B. it really destroys the place imo. Espoo's Rose

From that point on its badass track after another. Great stuff. Too bad about that technical failure in the beginning but he fixed that pretty good i must say

Posted by Protege on Jul-14-2006 17:51:

So why does everyone say that Macs and ableton are so stable when it seems to crash on him every so often? He needs to just go back to cdjs imo and leave ableton for the studio.

Posted by Phortastic on Jul-14-2006 18:03:

Macs ARE stable, believe me i know

Dont know shit about ableton though. Ableton crashes... The mac doesnt. The mac OS X almost never crashes it are the applications that crash. Unlike windows where a program crash can hang ur whole OS... Although with XP that hardly happens either. Still OS X is way more stable.
