Pages (2): « 1 [2]
Or a dumb voice track of this dude that always used to say "the new party 93...", "last hour we played.." etc. I've heard it on Sirius some time ago and have not listened since.
yeah get a real radio dj personality that's on during day.
okay i agree iwth party that power96 has some really outragously annoying ones, but there are pretty good ones (like the ones on 93 rock).

To be honest, why, radio stations are beginning to be something of the past, everyone has and alot more are turning to sattelite and ipod's, 5 yrs from now, I doubt there will be alot of stations left

Terrestial radio is a thing of the past, Nowadays everybody is joining the internet radio bandwagon as well as podcasting, One of the things I don't like about FM Radio is that it reliess solely on comercialism, The only way FM radio can survive is when they start playing a lot of advertisement between the shows, And people such as myself don't want any ads when hearing the music. Internet Radio as well as Satellite Radio offers nothing but music and no advertisement whats so ever, Plus our music is kind of in a nitch market, Which is why it doesn't do well in terrestial radio.
Plus, internet radio station is much cheaper to start, which gives you real freedom to play what you want and to run it the way you want, since there are no investors pushing you to play commercials so they can make their money.
PARTY 93.1 when first aired was awesome. It was playing the sound that was somewhat still in. Then timw went on & the same style was being played & no newer stuff was being played.
If it was supposed to be South Florida Dance Channel...
Why didn't they let ALL of the Miami Local's & Nightlife DJ's play from time to time & still run there commercials in between?
I mean if the NIGHTLIFE & DANCE Scene Music revolve around the Music/Clubbers & Dj's. Why not let Miami's Nightlife DJ's have there shot on the air. I mean think about it. You have ur different styles of Trance DJ's. You have ur different sounds of House Music as well. That would be giving all types of EDM to be played & given a chance to be heard.
It's a shame that The South FLorida's Pure Dance Chaennel ran itself into the ground. If it would come back LET OUR MIAMI LOCALS PLAY.

ya know, i would be happy if they brought back this radio station too, even though i doubt they will. Me and sky used to look forward to their 4th of july blast... it was one of our favorite annual parties (that was before i even moved to FL). i was just looking through old pics last night and saw how much fun we had at those parties and it would be nice to do it all again!

lol vibe 107.1 is from the mid-llate 90s i doubt it's still on. *checks*

Vybe 107.1 also streams online at 1club.fm 3rd station on the left column. its pretty damn good! just got down listening to Ferry vs Armin at godskitchen in dublin ireland.
When I go through Downtown I always turn to Vibe, it was sweet hearing Armin's - Blue fear.
Okay, now's the time to push hard for it. The new ratings are out - the Rock format on 93.1 is failing miserably in the 12+ ratings, and the Reggaton format on 94.9 (Mega 94.9) is doing pretty poorly too:

Radio stations aren't as interested in their ratings as they are in their advertisers. Without them they can't make money. Party was doing okay but the advertisers couldn't relate to their format, so they had to end it.
South Florida needs a dance station with fresh new music.. not burned out tracks and do-it-in-2-minutes top40 mixes. We also need a station with real, live radio personalities, not some cocky, over the top prerecorded messages bragging about how they don't have personalities to annoy the hell out of you. By making their oh-so-great claims they annoyed the hell out of me more than Lucy Lopez and DJ Laz arguing over what track to play next on Power 96.
Yeah dance music is great, but it's not the only great music of the world. The over-the-top mentality of Party 931 really turned me off and I'm sure it's what had the advertisers not wanting their commercials being played on such a lousy, bigheaded station.
On top of that, supporting gay and lesbianism from such an arrogant, over the top station was just the biggest cause for hilarity I've ever heard on the radio. It's like a gay guy coming out with a gangster rap song on why his rainbows have more bling than yours. Give me a break. It's almost as bad as religious hiphop music. Bragging about how many hoes they have, but they still can't bang them anyway hahahaa.
Despite their ratings, 93 Rock is a far better station as far as their format and design goes. I don't see how any advertiser would be ashamed to advertise on there. From the sounds of it, 93 Rock is here to stay for a while longer.

Well, the problem with 93.1's current format is that Active Rock usually tends to attract blue collar young males who tend to be white. Now if their ratings were high the station would be doing okay revenue wise, but since this is a format that leans on young dudes who dont have a big disposable income, and since it's in a market where most people aren't "caucasian" then you've got a problem. You're having difficulties relating to the audience.
Now this by no means insiuniates that only whites listen to Hard new Rock, but it's not far off either. Just like most Country listeners are white (and over 30), or News/Talk listeners on AM radio tend to be old (in their 40s and upwards). In essence, 93 Rock doesn't have a big enough core audience.
If 93 Rock played Modern/Alternative Rock, and not just hard Rock, then maybe they'd be doing better. That is certainly the case in Los Angeles, where the population is almost as Hispanic heavy as Miami's and the Asian population is actually far bigger then it is in South Florida. And yet Rock radio is thriving out there. All one has to do is look at the ratings for 106.7 K-Rock (KROQ):
http://www.radioandrecords.com/RRRa...=8/21/2006&CE=0
So maybe if 93 Rock was a Modern Rock station (more Coldplay, less Metallica) it wouldn't be struggling.
If I'm not mistaken, in 2005 K-Rock Los Angeles
was the most profitable radio station in America (and probably the world).
Anyways, I think Dance radio's advantages are that its core aren't 12-18 year old kids (like some of the Hip Hop stations), the average listeners has a pretty good income or is a female (females in general tend to spend more then males, based on studies). So if you've got better demographics and decent ratings you can make do really well money-wise.
I agree though that radio stations need on air disc jockeys to interact with the listeners, and help introduce the songs.
