Go Albania!!!

We tied Belarus today though !

Posted by zoric on Sep-02-2006 20:11:

Belarus is pretty decent and can play well against the biggest teams, But a good result for Albania, For sure.

Serbia just won their first game tonight, 1:0 against Azerbaijan after a goal by Nikola Zigic on a header. But Zigic missed like 3 chances, and Pantelic probably had the most chances, I can't believe this guy, Scores beautiful goals from time to time and can be incredible, but sometimes he misses open goals.

Sweden won over Latvia aswell, but Latvia could've equalized if that stupid attacker didn't save the ball from going in. Good save though, Sweden 3 points.

Posted by zoric on Sep-02-2006 20:50:

Italy just fucked up, and Lithuania WON a point.

Posted by MichaelBoogerd! on Sep-02-2006 21:12:

SLOVAKIA all the way!

6-1 vs. Cyprus... sends a nice message over to Czech & Germany in the hardest group in my opinion.

CZ & DE have obviously got some pedigree, but IRE, SVK and WAL can all punch above their weight on a good day.

Posted by zoric on Sep-02-2006 21:17:

The game could've changed pretty easily if Cyprus would've scored on their chances in the beginning.

But Slovakia was great later on and kicked Cyprus ass.

Lithuania - Italy 1:1, haha, yeah! damn world champions

Posted by zoric on Sep-02-2006 21:30:

I've got to say that Norway played well against Hungary when they won with 1:4 away.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored two goals and he seems to be on his way back currently. I'm happy for Norway.

Posted by noikeee on Sep-02-2006 21:43:

Norway is my long shot for the sensation team of the Euro 2008.

Interesting to see that Finland today thrashed Poland 3-1 away from home, and that yesterday Denmark beat us in a friendly 4-2. It's certainly a good weekend for nordic teams.

Posted by zoric on Sep-02-2006 21:52:

I'm happy for all Nordic teams!

Finland won over Poland tonight after two goals from Jari Litmanen (0:1, 0:2) who plays at Malm FF in Sweden. Poland got a red card before the second goal, so it was much easier for the fins to win.

Finland has a pretty solid team actually, They've got Hyppi and Pasanen in the defence while Kolkka, Litmanen and others are still playing well. Besides, We serbs lost to them last time we played against eachother, But two of our players weren't good enough to play that night, they were drunk the night before, Idiots.

But we also won tonight, against Azerbaijan with 1:0 after a goal by Ziga! Finally! The reason why I'm happy about is that we lost against last time we met, Horrible memories!

I can't say I'm impressed by Sweden though, they've lost Henrik, but Elmander played well today and created space, Zlatan didn't though, He hasn't been good since the game against Hungary when he scored that fantastic goal.

Did Maniche play for Portugal?

I've just heard he hasn't got enough training to play for Atltico.

Romania was in the lead til' the last couple of minutes yesterday against Bulgaria. But Martin Petrov scored two goals and the game ended 2:2.

Posted by Cloud on Sep-03-2006 08:50:

Moldova - Greece 0-1

God, we were bloody awful yesterday. I don't think we can compete for Euro this time.

In the 1st half we had some shit chances, missed a penalty with Basinas and Moldova reached many times inside Greece's half.
In the 2nd half we were far better did some good chances for goal but most of the times we had finishing problems , till we brought in Lymperopoulos' head and scored for us at 78'.

They're members of UEFA.

They've got several great players in the defense, but i've got doubts on whether they will work as a team and many doubts about the quality of the attack. Litmanen was brilliant a couple years ago, one of my fav players, but just the fact they are still relying on him, who must be like 36 years old already, tells it all.

No, he wasn't even called up for the squad. He's out of form as you say.

I'm sure Finland will do well if they continue like they did against Poland yesterday.

Definetly, But Jari still knows how to play football and does that pretty well both in the NT and in Malm.

They've got a solid goalkeeper in Jskelinen, their defence has got some nice players and the two most well known is probably Pasanen and Hyppi. Also, Teemu Tainio is still a pretty good player, Joonas Kolkka is good aswell and ofcourse, their attack mostly involves Jonathan Johansson and Jari Litmanen.

But they've got Russianborn Eremenko, who sometimes has his problems. Mikael Forsell is a good attacker aswell, So their squad is pretty nice even though it hasn't got so big stars.

Finland will be a tough test for Portugal and for us serbs. Can't say we've impressed anyone, and Clemente is still experimenting, Latest line-up was 4-4-3. Very offensive, but we just scored one goal, and that was in the end of the game.

Well..who do you expect them to play with? Lebanese or Syrians? It'd be a f**** war, not a game.

Yeah i've heard about all of them, kinda of strange how Finland is still such a low profile team with so many quality players in top leagues.

Yeah it will be a tough test for us, i remind the last time we faced them in a friendly before WC2002, we lost 4-1. As for your tactic, very offensive indeed to play without a goalie.

Germany 1 - 0 Ireland

Disappointed. Got a lucky goal which was deflected in by Robbie KEane. However if it wasnt for Given they could of won by 3. We created very little though. Terrible going forward. Dunne should of scored in the last minute though.

They have the potential to go to a big tournament like Euro or World Cup, but they never manage to make it, Like the game against Hungary back in the days, In 1998 I think it was, when Hungary made it through to the extra-playoffs where they had like 1 point or 1 goal more than Finland. Hungary got their ass kicked by Yugoslavia in the playoffs before the World Cup in France.

That was like their biggest chance to make it to a big tournament.

Sorry, I misstyped it. But it was really a big experiment from Clementes side. Panetlic is missing too many chances to become a big striker indeed, Our biggest problem by far.

I'm also happy Milan Stepanov made a good job, because he was replacing a injured Vidic, very close to score a goal aswell. He's got lots of potential to evolve even more and become even better.

Bosko Balaban, Darijo Srna and Ivica Olic got their asses kicked out of the Croatian team.

Here's Zlatan together with Olof Mellberg of Aston Villa and Christian "Chippen" Wilhelmsson (Nantes) going out, and the morning after, they got their asses kicked out of the Swedish team

Albania vs Romania today

Posted by zoric on Sep-06-2006 17:00:

Russia vs. Croatia ended 0:0 after one of the best qualifiers I've seen in a very long time.

Could've ended like 4:4 instead of 0:0.
