Come on, PETRAN. RebeL9 obviously knows his stuff when it comes to Digital Blonde.
Are you trying to say you know D.B. better than he does?

I suppose you don't think these tracks are dark either :

try some of The Delta's stuff. The Delta - Thing (LP edit). That track is pure evilness.

Cass & Slide - Opera (Cass & Slide Phantoms Only Mix)
Kosmas Epsilon - I Trance You
Coffee Boys - The Touch (James Holden Remix)
Sosa - Accelerator (Taucher Remix)
Arrakis - Medusa
Storm - Time To Burn
Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown
LSG - Netherworld
DoGu Dimmez - Possible

sig is kinda dark as well

Ermmmm i've just posted "electro-goth/EBM" reccomendations and if i'm not mistaken xenomorph have nothing to do with "gothic"(as a broad genre) but with psy-trance.It's true that i haven't heard of them though (maybe one tune in a psy compilation) because simply put i hate psy-trance!!!

Wow, this sounds like an angry kid messing with his fruity loops!

Gothic != Evil.

The goths (huns) are the barbarian race that sacked Rome. In historical and literal terms Goth means 'Outsider.' In reference to architecture, Gothic is used to reference the change from Classical architechture. Goth being to literally 'despoil heritage.' So Goth is also a mockery and an antecedent.

In popular media and music, it has also been used to describe grotesque and flamboyancy.

Gothic music draws from a number of ideas of all of the above in some way, sometimes deliberately and sometimes inadvertently. Gothic music is outsider music. It can be a mockery of its contemporaries. In many ways it is grotesque and it is flamboyant.

Xenomorph toys with some Gothic ideas but its Trance. Lab4 also does the same but its Hard Trance/House.

For me, if you want to start exploring Gothic music you have to do it from something like Skinny Puppy. I mean, it has the works. Especially something like Last Rites. Thats a Goth record through and through.

Also, tell me what dark is when you have listened to Spasmolytic

you obviously can't read. the guy asked for dark tunes no matter if it's trance or house. He even mentioned a psy trance act (Dark Soho), in other words he wanted similiar stuff.

And since you haven't heard them your crappy arguments fall flat.

Posted by Derivative on Jul-04-2006 23:25:

That may be true but nothing in this thread is quite as dark as Spasmolytic. Or Fun with Knives.

Dude. That is dark.

If you dont mind noisy 'music' the Coil are for me the pinnicle of dark electronic music. If you havent checked them out I seriously advise you to do so. But try to keep an open mind. It wont be what you expect and its sometimes hard to get into it. Its not music in the conventional sense of the word.

Posted by RebeL9 on Jul-04-2006 23:27:

and if the guy asked for goth-music then i wouldn't even reply. since i'm not into goth music.

Yea, skinny puppy can be labelled as "goth" but in the "industrial" side of things. In the end of the day if someone wants to explore goth, then he must start with some new-wave/post-punk/gothic rock bands that were active in the beginning of the 80s. (this was it's first most original form. The term "gothic rock" was invented for bauhaus by their manager)

These are:

Joy Division (later forming "new order"...love will tear us apart)
The Cure (first albums)
Bauhaus
Sisters of Mercy
Echo and the Bunnymen
Siousxie & the Banshees
The Chameleons U.K. (one of the best and most underrated music EVER.melancholic and dynamic reverbed quitar lines with amazing lush synth work.A must.)
The Sound
Fields of the Nephilim (Some say that "Elizium" is better than "Dark side of the moon" by floyd...it's surely very "Entrancing" and "Ethereal" with some godly melodies)
Death in June (atmospheric post-apocalyptic folklore)
Current '93 (the same)
Dead Can Dance (dark avant-garde music by 4AD)
This Mortal Coil ("Song to the siren"- yes an ethereal gothic tune that was remixed in the 90s by lost witness was theirs!)
Cocteau Twins
Clan of Xymox
Wire
The Smiths
X-Mal Deutschland
The Mission U.K.
Christian Death
Kommunity FK
Danse Society
killing Joke
Mephisto Waltz
Red Lorry Yellow lorry
Theatre of Ice
Danse Society
Sex Gang Children
Southern Death Cult
Corpus Delicty

+ EBM, synth-pop and industrial genres are very relevant,(depeche mode, simple minds, cabaret voltaire, throbbing gristle blah blah blah) but i'm bored to mention them!!!
