more offseason news

1) sacramento's possible new arena should be put on the november ballot. if this is approved, the kings will stay for 30 more years. take that, oaklahoma city

2) who you got for the us team this year? (u can pick 12 )

PG: Paul, Billups
SG: D Wade, Bowen
SF: LBJ, Melo, Joe Johnson
PF: Chris Bosh, Elton Brand, Jamison
C: Dwight Howard, Brad Miller

i dont like the tryout roster...wtf are morrison and jj redick doing? they should also try out artest, iverson, g-wall, and a couple others. at least the US team is willing to pick up more role players such as bowen (i still hate him) and shane battier.

oklahoma city wouldn't want the kings now...they're more or less gonna get the sonics

besides...the kings would be great in las vegas

hehe....

the kings have just signed john salmons for apparently the full MLE the deal is currently being destoryed on kingsfans.com haha

this means that bonzi will be elsewhere in the nba.

can any ppl from philly gimme more info on this guy? probably a good signing, gives the kings 1-2-3 positions tremendous depth but not for the full MLE. apparently he turned down MLEs from phoenix and toronto. interesting how 3 of the NBAs top front offices would give him that much $$

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jul-25-2006 01:04:

well from what i hear, salmons seems to be one of those sleeper guys that no one really knows about who can really make a huge impact on the floor when he gets the ball. he really didn't get a chance to play in philly, as they gave most of the minutes to AI, webber, and iggy. Experts say he has great control, has a good sense of the game, and can make an impact as a 6th man, not as much of a starter right now, but potentially bigger in the future. So basically, some teams are bought on what the experts are saying. We don't know how much potential he has, but the experts know. Should we trust "the experts" ? .

In my opinion, i think he is pretty good as a 6th man, but i don't think teams should be paying him the MLE. Maybe teams are trying to find the next Tim Thomas of last year. who knows ?

Not a bad list if you are going for youth. I'd get Jaminson off that list fast, I don't even think he deserves to be an all-star. His defense is piss poor. Also I'd replace Joe Johnson with Kobe, who deserves to make it regardless of his age, which isn't that old.

BOOO.... fuckin Celtics can't pull an Iverson deal off, WTF... that was their last chance to pull me back and I think A LOT of fans back... a Pierce/Iverson C's team.... well they fucked it up as always.... idiots...

that would have been exciting.

I wanted to see Allen as a King though, playing in the intense Western Conference Playoff games at Arco. That'd be hella sweet.

Posted by PhaseFour on Jul-28-2006 01:11:

AI on the kings? no way lol

Posted by Kapedano on Jul-28-2006 02:48:

I wouldnt want A.I on my team anyways. Kings will be better without him.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Jul-28-2006 04:40:

I don't think a team of Bibby and AI wouldn't mesh together. However, a team of Artest, Miller, AI, Bibby, and crew looks like a very interesting team. haha .

Posted by PhaseFour on Jul-28-2006 04:56:

haha man whats with all the AI to the kings rumors? we have enough little ppl

anyhow what i read was billy king turned down a deal sending AI to boston for carlos boozer, gerald green, szcerbiak, and 1st rounder for the strong 2007 draft class, or something close to that. if i was billy king i woulda done that in a heartbeat. then again he was dumb enough to do the c-webb trade

Posted by King Ecnal on Jul-28-2006 07:11:

yeah someone needs to take wally worlds contract... he's not worth the money he's getting...

C's need another stud to compliment Pierce... This failure to get AI might just top the biggest blunder of all time: not trading the two picks(billups and mercer) for Duncan 10 years ago...

I mean don't get me wrong, I HATE Allen Iverson... but he's sick...

magloire to portland for ha seung jin, brian skinner, steve blake.

weird transaction from portlands perspective.

sac is still trying to get rid of kenny thomas . i would consider packaging him, francisco garcia and jason hart for mags but not anymore.

Posted by Spartan on Aug-01-2006 18:07:

kenny thomas is one of my favorite players. He's too small to dominate the PF position, but he still plays it like a champ. I thought he was a good fit when he went to Sac w/ the the reverse offense that they run, cause he was such a good ball handler. BUT, alas that was then and this is now. New coach, new system, new players.

well there are certain things i like about kenny thomas. he gets a lot of rebounds, doesnt dominate the ball on offense (unlike webber did), had a jumpshot when he first came to sac but somehow lost it. hes also pretty quick, remember that lakers game where he destoryed luke walton?

but what i hate about kenny thomas, besides his massive contract is his attitude. he only brings it if hes competing for the starting spot at PF, and this destorys the chemistry of the team. for instance, he booted darius songaila and shareef onto the bench, but never performed once he did become starter.

he can be an amazing role player but not with that attitude. thats why many hardcore kings fans would love to ship him off with youngs (francisco garcia etc) to get talent or just ship him off for an expiring. he doesnt have negative value like stephon marbury or anything, but most GMs know about his attitude problems so his trade value seems rather low, in addition to the contract.

Can we claim Dirk as an American yet or what???

Didn't he say that the USA are the team to beat in the World Championships????

Can he be any more obvious that he wants to be a full fledged Americana!!!!

I'm not sure if he's playing for Germany or not... I'm too lazy to look it up.... but still... he's more American than Jurgen Klinsmann!

Blazers get Jamal Magliore from Milwaukee for 3 scraps (one being Steve Blake). I'll take it.

Next order of action is to dump Darius Miles, who is a piece of crap.

If USA basetball isn't the favorite, then it's quite sad in my opinion. Other countries have caught up obviously with our horrible recent performance, but c'mon... a country that features Wade, Lebron, Kobe (even though he's not playing), etc. should at least be the "favorites."

I'm old enough to have seen the 1992 dream team in person in pre-qualifying. It was cool. Best basketball team ever assembled!

What is an American but either born here with a mix of ancestors or immigrants.

Names make USA favourite, but hey, lets play, and we'll see.

Argentina, Spain, France... some strong rivals for the americans, out there.

World Championships coming up soon.
Kind of interesting to see what Argentina, Spain, and Italy are going to whip up this year, since they have placed strong the past championships. The US, according to experts, are doing a good job during scrimmages, and played a textbook game in their preliminary game against Puerto Rico.

I would like to see how Argentina is going to play out, with Ginobli, Noicoini, Oberto, and Delfino committing to the team. I love to see the Argentinians play, because they stress defense and good ball rotation every game.

i guess the 15 US players haven't been posted yet, so i will post them here :

Carmelo Anthony F 6-8 Denver Nuggets
Gilbert Arenas G 6-4 Washington Wizards
Shane Battier F 6-8 Houston Rockets
Chris Bosh F 6-10 Toronto Raptors
Bruce Bowen F 6-7 San Antonio Spurs

Elton Brand F 6-8 Los Angeles Clippers
Kirk Hinrich G 6-3 Chicago Bulls
Dwight Howard F-C 6-11 Orlando Magic
LeBron James F 6-8 Cleveland Cavaliers
Antawn Jamison F 6-9 Washington Wizards

Joe Johnson G-F 6-7 Atlanta Hawks
Brad Miller C 7-0 Sacramento Kings
Chris Paul G 6-0 NO/Okla. City Hornets
Amare Stoudemire C 6-10 Phoenix Suns
Dwyane Wade G 6-4 Miami Heat

When do they start?

Oh and the new playoff seeding is finally here.

Can't fix the NBA playoffs, they're just WAY too long... takes forever... they should do either 3-5 game series... or do 6 teams make the playoffs, best two records get the bye...

I KNOW its all a marketing move... because SO MANY people watch the nba playoffs.... and the tv rights and crap are so worthwhile... right....

David Stern is a clown...

nah...he's a genius for the most part.

Posted by King Ecnal on Aug-03-2006 03:59:

Ok, he's probably the 3rd worst GM behind Gary Bettman and Buddy Boy... but he's still bad.

Genius is going REALLY far. The dress code was ballsy, not genius. This playoff scheme is a step in the right direction, but not a solution. Not letting Mark Cuban be Mark Cuban... REALLY NOT GENIUS!!!
