I dont know who it was or what there motives were but last night someone put something in one of my drinks! I've never taken E, or acid I simply dont use any kind of drugs. This night has really raised some doubts in my mind about continuing to club!

I arrived last night around 10:45 and met up with Michelle, Kris, Ben, Lindsey and Chris (all TA's). We were up front watching the kristina sky set. I ordered my first drink (redbull & vodka) upstairs in the house lounge around 11:15. I went back down and danced till about 11:50 because Armin was coming on @ 12. I ordered another drink and drank 1 bottled water and took another with me back to the dance floor. Around 12:30 I got 2 more bottled waters and took them to Michelle on the dance floor. I remember checking my phone and it was 1:27 when I ordered my 3rd (final) drink and 2 more bottled waters. It was so hot down on the main floor that I stayed up in the house room dancing. I asked a group of people to please watch my drink and waters. Huge mistake!!!! When I returned to the table they were gone but my drink and waters were still there. I finished my drink and had a bottled water. The last thing I remember was sitting down in the House room about 1:50. After that everything is a total blank. I dont know where I was or what I was doing. I dont know how I got downstairs or even outside of the club. The only thing I do remember is that some time after the club closed I was sitting outside (maybe in the parking lot)group of people approached me and asked me if I needed help. I remember one of them saying "dude look @ his eyes he is totally f**ked up on something." That how I know I wasnt just drunk! I remember getting into the front seat of there car. And then total blank again. I woke up this morning around 9 in my car with my seat reclined and the doors locked. I can only guess that they drove me around until I was able to locate my car and they helped me get in. The keys were in the glovebox so I asume they hid them from me so I couldnt drive.

I am really thankful that things turned out alright except that I feel like total and utter crap today. I am thankful for the kind group of strangers who were willing to help me when I was unable to help myself, without them I probably would have woken up in the drunk tank or something even worse! Words cant describe how angry I am about last night. It was my first clubing experience up in Hollywood and probably my last. What should have been a great night with the White theme and Armin and ATB turned out to be the scariest night of my life.

I just felt I should tell my experience to remind everyone how careful you have to be when your out clubbing! Never leave your drink or even set it down!!!

The same thing happened to me last year when Armin played Spundae. I was a little more stupid because I took a water from a stranger My whole color spectrum shifted (everything turn a strange purple color) and I knew something bad was going on. As soon as I knew I had been drugged I bolted outside and got to security and told them what had happened and asked them to please take care of me and not let anyone near me unless it was my friends. They were very concerned and had the paramedics come and look at me, gave me lots of water and let me sleep in a safe place until the event was over. They found my friends for me, let them pull the car right up to the front of Spundae and made sure I got in safely.

@ slkvin:

Dude, way sorry to hear about that. I briefly met you at then end of Armin's set on Thursday (I think I recall you were the dude that had to keep getting faceplates for your signatures ;P). Anyways, glad at least people were able to help you out. Where were the other TA's at this point? They didn't notice anything funny with you? As for the people that 'watched' your drinks, I can't believe they would do that shit. Good mental note to make, I guess...only let people you know and trust with your drinks in a club. Anyways, I hope you reconsider your LA clubbing attendance. There's a lot of great things to offer...don't let this one bad (and rare) incident bring you down.

For me this night was a 10 out of a 10. Everybody and I mean everybody was there, people I havent seen in months and people from all over the country.

Sorry to hear people complain about Armin's set, hope you didnt let it ruin your night. As for me, I though Armin was banging and was able to dance the entire time. The crowd was perfect, packed but perfect. No one pushing and shoving or acting retarded, at least the people that were around me. My friend from Denver wore a shirt that said Got Armin on one side and Got Shivers on the back, and when Armin played Shivers, Armin held it up in front of the crowd and signed it. My friend was pretty stoked.

The after hrs was a huge turn out, excellent idea to have that after an Armin party. Don't know if it would work every Saturday night, but this night, it blew over real good. I stayed until almost 6am and tried to hold out for when Fee Fee and Gil La came on, but just couldn't do it.

I had an awesome time at the White Party. Thanks to all the LA TAs for showing love to a NorCal TA.

I flew down from Sacramento just for the event. Everyone I met was great and so friendly!

Special thx to Sweetcandy Girl for introducing me to everyone. Sorry about the crackhead, haha I played the best bodyguard I could

Now off to Armin tonight at Ruby Skye! Hopefully he won't be tired from the crazy traveling.

Matt

alright time for my review now that i am a bit more recovered and not sleeping half the day.

so i was chilling at the beach before i left because my best friend is now GONE for 2 years!! on his mission for his church. so i left there at about 1915.

got to circus at 2030 and met up with tigo because, my dumbass didnt realize that the danny howells tickets for avalon were for friday and not saturday. so he left and calls me and lets me know and we both laughed. so i am waiting in line and steve calls me to ask me to buy his ticket since he didnt get presale.

so i get to the front buy a ticket and wait for him. he gets there at about 2130 and we go in. i promptly go in and get a drink and end up outside talking to ferry and ed while cody was on which was fun. we always have fun!

so then i go back in at about 2330 and it is crowded and armin is on shortly. i went up and got another drink before he came on and then found my spot which just so happened to be next to michelle, kris, matt, vince, and a few others that i forget. was there the whole time armin was on and didnt leave till atb got off.

i really liked armins set. for me it was very energetic and a lot better imho than thursday. i dont really like electro too much which is why i didnt like armins set thursday as good as saturday.

then atb gets on and i do agree with most doesnt really mix anything in just turns it on. but he is wayy into his set. he has a BEAUTIFUL wife. shes really nice and down to earth also. we talked a little bit and she helped me get a pic with him (and anna-his wife) AND sign my shirt! he is my fav dj of all time because of his productions. i am not too into his stuff anymore as i have gotten into a different style but he is still my fav!

so at 4am it was over and me michelle kris and a couple others were still inside. security was telling us to get out so we promptly exited. michelle and kris went to get the car and i stayed in the parking lot. we then proceeded to drink the 3 buck chuck from big lots and went in to the after party 20 mins or so later.

wheres menno!? so he was denied entry because he had the wrong visa which really sucks but oh well. we had a nice tag team between victor and ksky. i ended up leaving at around 7am and got home at 830 cause i was too tired to drive the whole way so had to pull off and sleep a tad. all in all i had a GREAT time.

all the tas i saw were, matt (andrieux sp?), lindsey, desiree, michelle, kris, vince, carrie, ferry and ed, stephen, mike, gil, rob, and a shit load more i just cant remember for shit still. thanks to all the TAs.

i need to know the last 4 trax armin played.....fuckin ridiculous! Definitely a good night at spundae once again.

Posted by LAgroovejunkie on Jul-03-2006 19:56:

For me, the White party was the best F^&ing night I've had since the Winter Music Conferece. The energy at Spundae could have powered the world. Everyone showed up, even all of my random friends who never have time came out. Even a work mate from San Diego who I had no clue he was in the scene. (pleasant surprise) Armin's set was outstanding and the place was jumping like I've never seen it before. That was my first time seeing ATB and I really enjoyed his set as well. Cody Lee, Kristina, and Austin Scott also were in full form and played good sets as well. The afterparty was a hit as well. Victor played EXACTLY what I needed to hear when we got inside. Even all my friends who couldn't make it to the white party made it to afterparty. I'm not really sure when the night officially ended and the next day began, but the entire event was monumental. I hope Spundae keeps doing the afterparty.
Thanks to everyone who showed up for another amazing night!

Tracklist? I wonder if our B&B Remix of Ordinary Moment was played...

Posted by etazbaz on Jul-04-2006 01:20:

Armin Good, ATB Bad

This was my second time at Spundae. I came alone but met some really cool people and even made a couple new friends while there so I never felt alone. Armin absolutley rocked. He had a great track list and even more importantly flawless mixing that kept the energy level up. I could't stand ATB. He should really just stick to producing music. He train wrecked through just about every track. No matter how good the individual tracks are a DJ should do more than just be a human juke box. The transitions should be seemless and complimentary in energy levels and keys. Every time he "mixed" a new track in, it was ubrupt and killed the mood. I couldn't take it for long and found myself in the other two rooms where the music and mixing were good. I came back to ATB every now and then to find out he was still struggling with his mixing. On second thought he may not have been struggling, I think he doesn't even try. He is that bad. Props to K. Sky. She was awesome! We really need more talented female DJs. The after-hours party also rocked. We partied till 9:00am which was barely enough time to sober up. Overall this will go down as an awesome night for me. The only other downside to the night besides ATB was that I somehow lost my digital camera. I also thought it odd that there wern't any restrooms inside the afterhours club and there weren't really any places to sit down like Circus. Thanks to Spundae for putting together such a tight production and to all the people who came in dressed in white to go along with the nights theme.

Posted by TSG on Jul-04-2006 01:29:

My friend also lost her digital camera at Spundae. She kinda forgot it in the restroom, ran back to check and it was gone.
Would be nice if people would turn lost things into the "lost & found."

The afterparty venue is still going thru it "construction" phase. the restrooms were in the white trailor outside... "potties with wheels"

So my question is: How did ATB become #9 DJ in the world if he can't even mix? Too many fanboys?

You didnt really fix anything lol.

ATB wins though because in the end better tracks > mixing.

Although I like both...because then you go to a place called EDM heaven.

Thats right. I dont care how good the mixing armin was doing (it was great), the shoddy track list and low energy set was enough to truely be disapointed. I dont think anyone on the dance floor even cared if ATB just played back to back tracks, cause everytime he did, id look around and EVERYONE had a HUGE smile on their face every single time a track was played, it was AMAZING energy. During armins set, everyone kept looking around and waiting for the energy to happen, and it barely did 75% into his set. Aweful. ATB Rocked it, well mixed or not.

Who gives a fuck... he was fun as hell, armin was better at mixing obviously but that's not what ATB is known for.

Apparantley some

I love ATB. Too bad he didn't play a set to some people's liking.

Posted by etazbaz on Jul-04-2006 19:56:

Maybe this analogy will make sense to some. Imagine you are in a Ferrari and driving down this beautiful windy road at top speed but every 7-8 minutes or so you either hit a red light or you grind your transmission during a shift. That's what ATB is like. You're having a great time cause the music is banging then suddenly the illusion is destroyed and then you're in sonic nirvana once again. The start-stop was just killing it for me. AVB on the other hand may not be a Ferrari, but is still a fast sports car that carries you through his entire set. A DJ set is more than just a bunch of great tracks strewn together. It is a story and the DJ is responsible for telling that story and changing the direction of that story. Sometimes the DJ leads sometimes he follows the audience. I am glad that a lot of you enjoyed ATB. I wish I could have too. I guess maybe I'm just too senstive to the bad transitions and it messes it up for me.

peace

Some people may have low standards but they aren't the ones pushing things forward.

Its interesting how you judge my mixing! ;o)
Ive done three breaks! Yes...youre right...that was no transitions. But believe me..after 15 Years doing this job I know exactly what I want to do with and for the crowd in my own way! I dont care about DJs who never do breaks! For me its a instrument to make my own up and downs and when you come with the ferrari thing I think a street with nice curves is more interesting then just a boring straight street! This is my style and the people react on it her own way as you saw! In two ours 3 breaks is not like a ferrari stops every 7 minutes I think!!
What you think about the other transitions is your own beer! You are really good in exaggerations! ;o)

For the other people...Im looking forward for the next time in L.A.! It was a great night and also a great Set of Armin!

Best greetings
Andre
