Yeah it seems so. I wouldn't be surprised if you change your mind on this at some point though, most people used to the US accents do tend to get desensitized in the end if they hear enough international stuff and end up coming around to the change in voice. I know I did...

Is the extent of your knowledge of American hiphop limited to 50 Cent and Juvenile????

Off the top of my head, the following acts are better than pretty much all English hip hop I've ever heard:

- Jurrassic 5
- Mos Def
- Talib Kweli
- De La Soul
- Kool Mo Dee
- Dr. Dre
- Snoop Doggy Dogg ("Doggystyle" era Snoop, not GGW Snoop)
- Gang Starr
- Atmosphere
- Pretty much the entire Wu-Tang CLan
- Mobb Deep

etc. etc. etc.

The list could go on for days... America owns hip hop, whether you like it or not.

Then you clearly haven't heard much UK hip hop. I agree that the majority of good hip hop has come out of the US, but the fact is that the UK and other nations have strong local scenes with music of comparable quality to the stuff coming out of America at present. Other than some Dre, Gangstarr, Mobb Deep and the Wu i'd pick a different group of artists to represent the US scene though.

Blak Twang, Manuva, Sway, Klashnakoff, Phi Life and the like are easily at or above the standard of nearly everyone on that list. I'd put some of the Wu above them, maybe early Mobb Deep but that's about it from the people you named.

I understand you. I should've made a more clear post. Because with US shit I meant 50 Cent and such. Not the list you named. I actually own a couple cd's by Mobb Deep, Gangstarr, Dre, Snoop, The Roots etc.

But The Streets, Roots Manuva, Dizzie Razcal etc. are imo way better than the hiphop cheese made by the likes of 50, Ying Yang Twins, Lil' Jon etc. Not better though than the decent US names you posted.
