lol what are you talking about? some people just like puzzles.

why are people so anti-sudoku? because it's a new trend? so what.

haha, don't tell anyone but I love doing sudoku puzzles.

I'm sure I take 50 zillion times longer to finish one than other people aka as normal people but omg when I finish one, I'm soooooooooooo happy!

Posted by dallastar on Jul-12-2006 01:44:

can't really do this - I have only ever gotten one line correct! mind you i have only tried 4 times to play

ya, you are not good at em, but you love em.

i should do a few instead of writing my thesis.

Yeah there are a lot of logical techniques u can use. All puzzles are made by computer so the more difficult ones are just ones where you need to think more steps ahead to solve a number. They don't necessarily have less numbers filled in. Here are some google results that explain how to solve sudoku:

This one seems like a good basic start:

Have to give this one a look later looks more advanced:

Thanks Jason & Astro for the pointers, that may knock my time down to an even more rapid 45 min I never said I was good, only better than Chrissi.

i tried a couple of easier ones first to get the hang of it...those took a while longer although easier because i had to get used to thinking about the puzzle a certain way

my mom once asked my help on a medium difficulty sudoku puzzle.. i had to delete most of what she wrote, but i finished it in 3 minutes, so i tried a 'hard' one and finished that in 5 minutes... havent touched any sudoku since.

I'd actually never really seen any until I went to Europe and saw everyone doing them on the train each morning on my way to class. So I picked it up and got fairly decent at it by the time I left. Does anyone remember those logic puzzle mystery things with the grids? Kind of the same I guess. Used to do those in middle school back in the day.

Posted by JBDreamerie on Jul-12-2006 15:46:

i used to be really bad at these, but really loved them. did one a day.
now, i can complete a gentle in 5 minutes
and an evil/most difficult in 45 minutes to an hour.

and about them dying out in popularity, i'm not sure, i think it's more appealing to mathematically minded people...just like crosswords are for word people...and those haven't died out
