Where in GTA can I get custom earplugs?

Posted by Rook on Mar-07-2007 19:08:

my recoomendation as a hearing instrument specialist in training is spend the 100-200 dollars because u cant put a price on your hearing...many people dont realize true value of hearing until its gone..i always say to people that you can either choose to protect yourself for the small cost now...or you will have to dish out 1000-2000 in the future for a hearing aid...the best way to go is a set of er-25's..these dcrease the intensity of sound allowing you to still hear the high pitched sound..as opposed to completely occluding your ears and not recieving quality sound...they have a special pacifier type filter inbeded into the custom fited earmold..they are also called musicians earplugs and i recomend everyone who attend events get themselves a pair...because you either pay now...or pay later...if anyone is really interested in aquiring a pair i can help you out on prices considering i am in the better hearing healthcare industry....'

feel free to ask me any more questions that you may have or that i havent aswered on this topic.....g'luck...

ps. here is a article on how many canadians are already loosing their hearing and how the gov't and public are looking to make hearing aids more fashionable, just like they did with eyeglasses...http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/consumers/hearingaids.html

here is a er-25 chart displying the sounds u will recieve...

lol @ Lisa's ****yness in this thread.

To answer your question, I bought a pair of custom molded earplugs for $190. Even as a student with meager earnings, considering how often I go out to clubs, I couldn't think of a better way to spend $190.

Here is where I got my customs:

Union Hearing Aid Centre Limited
123 Edward Street, Toronto, ON, Canada - (416) 364-2264

The 25 db attenuators are too much. Go with the 20s or 15s.

i agreee..however...15 and 20 do not decreasae the amount of damge being caused since they only lower the intensity by 10 or 15 db...25 are recomened for amplified sound and speakers..but its ok...u can actually change the filters by yourself...

I've had mine for about 3 years now (attenuators replaced about 1.5 years ago) and they are one of the best investments I have ever made. Since I already have hereditary hearing loss I am very conscious of hearing health.

IMO - the 25s are too much and reduce the sound too significantly for my liking. I had the 25 inserts and ended up taking them back for the 20s.

Havent had my ears tested yet, but for months I've noticed a constant high pitched buzzing, which I thought was coming from the TV. I finally realised it wasn't. This is what I hear in my ears now 24-7. Since the age of 15, I've been abusing my ears with rock concerts and nightclubs, and only started wearing earplugs 6 yrs ago. I'm paying for it now. If anything, this constant ringing is GOING TO DRIVE ME INSANE, straight into an asylum!!!!! I do nothing but focus on it now. MAKE IT STOP!!!!

Dont be stupid- wear your earplugs, always.

...do you guys get this ringing in your ears out of the blue?

I'm just sitting in bed watching TV or something (Volume is very low) then all of a sudden one ear starts ringing pretty badly for like 5 seconds...then everything is fine...

I've gotten that recently a few times. Not painful like Nat said though. I always think it's the humming of my computer or something, or maybe the sound of me going insane.

I always wear earplugs when I go to the club though. And I try not to have my TV or music too loud at home or in the car anymore.

I find I never need really use my earplugs..the music is never loud enough for the earplugs (unless I get right up infront of a speaker).
The only place I always use them is at CZ.
