-- Darude - Sandstorm 2006
Pages (3): « 1 [2] 3 »
When Darude dies they'r gona play his sandstorm for the funeral mass.
Why, Darude. Why can't you try to become a respectable musician.
I think the original version of Sandstorm was actually a pretty good song. It was overplayed as hell, sure, but the song itself wasn't bad. I've yet to hear any remixes of it that I've liked, though; the song just doesn't really work without the completely overdone breakdowns and stuff.

Those covers are getting on my nerves.. I really can understand Mr.Mystery, when I read the topic of the thread "Sandstorm 2006" I thought at first this has to be a joke for having a reason to start a new endless discussion about trance nowadays.. which is also going on my nerves.. But nevertheless IŽll give this a listen, to say it in Forrest Gumps words "trance is like a box of chocolates you never know what youŽre going to get"

guess darude is reminiscing the old days (with a fresh lick of paint), but they are long gone, bleh
why doesn't the old bugger just concentrate on his radioshows, they are pretty good!
Holy shit. This IS for real.

so what's wrong with doing new remixes of older tracks? it's not like darude has done a 2006 version..
i'm guessing he doesn't even have much to do with this. i bet dallas superstars just did a new version of it for fun, and then someone thought of releasing it so they got few more mixes to go with it.
don't have to be so negative all the time..

Originally posted by Mr.Mystery Of course Darude had nothing to do with this, that's the problem exactly. These kind of releases are just sad attempts from the label to cash in, it has fuck all to do with artistic creativity or innovation. The labels are afraid of trying new things so they'll just milk the old records for what they're worth and then some. It's releases like this that kill the creativity and innovation there once was in this scene. It's a bit like best of-albums... except you won't even get the original tracks but some cheap knock-offs. These remixes weren't made "for fun". They were made because they got paid to do them. |

after a few years there'll be so many remixes that some guy will take a remix to produce a rework and will end up making sandstorm original
You know... the only thing that surprises me is that it took this long.

it's pretty funny how all of you are calling em crap before even hear it. personally i'm a little interested in the outcome. dallas superstars have done some quality work and it could be something worthwhile.
