Not the best WEMF but good none the less... no crazy WEMF stories, but lots of goot times... Thank you again aaron and tammy for the lift. ur car makes a comfortable bed haha, and falling alseep to the music in the back seat prepped me quite well for sleep at WEMF.

My camara got stolen in the first two hours there.(the bright side: i guess it is better this cuz we took lots more pics with other ppls cams, unlike last year when it got stolen right at the end thus leaving me mostly pictureless. i think im just not meant to have pics.)

the music was good, especially the Beat Freakers set at 3 am saturday, and krafty kuts cor the 15 mins i was there. Also: fleming was decent, and Chris liberator at the renegade stage was f-in insane.

This year is prolly the dirtiest WMEF by far. The dust was a lil out of control. My formerly black dancing shoes are a nice shade of WEMF brown, and my tent is covered in a thick layer of dirt(which disappointingly ill have to un roll and wash -__-, deffinatly more work than i signed up for.)

all in all it was good times as usual. WEMF is still my favourite holiday of the year.

Here's to next year's being a tad cleaner.

{EDIT} : The Rev Girls gave me their shirts! BOOYA! i have official Rev apparel.

Alright...

Left K-W at 10AM on Friday morning, took our time getting there seeing as we thought the park opened at 12 noon, not midnight the night before.

We arrived at the park at about 2:30, and finally got in around 5:30. We were finished setting up and finding a campsite by 6:30ish. Unfortunately, when we arrived there were already loads of people swarming the park, and the TA area we had chosen was looking really cramped, so we bailed and took a site up in the "middle of nowhere" area. Luckily for us, it turned out awesome. It was generally quiet, we could have proper campfires and stuff, and the setup we had was pretty sweet. I was very pleased with our site.

After setting up, we took a trip down to the four four stage to see Dennis and Andrews set. We saw about 15 mins of Dennis' set, (THEY WERE STILL SETTING EVERYTHING UP!!) and then left thinking it would be best to get back and take care of some things (bathroom etc.) On our way back, we found poor Aaron wandering around aimlessly looking for the Nor'easter stage, which apparently hadn't even been put up at that point.

We went back to our site, and the other half of our group had arrived and finished setting up, so we whipped out the alcohol.
First night, I drank about 750mL of malibu rum mixed with some iced tea, so needless to say, and I think colnelcrisp can vouch for me when I do say, I was trashed off my arse. We went down to the four four stage and I danced my little heart out, but unfortunately they shut down the stage around 2AM. Our group had sorta fallen apart, so I found a friend and we stumbled our way back to the site.

Once we got back, I passed out in a car, and then had to get in between two moron guys starting a fight (one of them was in my group). I kept yelling "I'M A 90 POUND GIRL! ARE YOU GOING TO HIT A 90 POUND GIRL?!?!" LOL!!! It worked for quite a while, and after a few shoves I couldn't block, help arrived and we were able to keep them apart and calm them down. Stupid male pride/dominance B.S. Hey dumbass, (you know who you are,) you're a dumbass.... no seriously.

Anyway, the night was pretty nutty. I massively pushed myself, which I regretted later because all day and night Saturday, I was feeling pretty shitty. I will definitely make a reminder to myself for next time not to go so hardcore.

Saturday we took it really easy. We woke up, lazed around, then napped, and got up again. After my nap, I went to take a potty break, and while waiting in line, I had people looking at me really weird. I was standing there thinking to myself, "do I have something on my face? Do I look strange or something?" Finally, this girl pipes up and asks "are you Theresa?" It threw me off a little, but it turned out it was some fellow TA's recognizing me. It was neat meeting you Adi, Callie, and Newr. Callie, you are a REALLY pretty girl.

Callie and Newr told me that DJ Robben AKA Mike had been taken to the hospital. I really hope you're ok dude. Seriously, Imma kick your ass if you don't get better and take care of yourself!!!

Saw tonnes of other TA's, some of which were absolutely freakin' rude. I was a little shocked at how ignorant some of you were. I clearly said hello to a group of TA's I recognized, and you all just snubbed me and walked away. If you are going to be a part of a community, I suggest you drop your little cliquey B.S. qualms with people, and have a little courtesy to at least say hello.

Stayed sober Saturday night and went to the four four stage. Missed Anne Ended up going back to our site and crashing. I was soooo hungover/tired. Saw a lot of people!!

Nice to see Me@tkatie, Vidman, ColnelCrisp, JemHadar (got a good pic of you dude,) Adi, Aaron, Dannie, Andrew, Drew, Dennis, MaxTO, Benny, Tammy, Lopi, Peter and Laura (nice to finally meet you!! I think I was drunk when I was talking to you, because I don't remember much of what we talked about,) Penny, PartEGurl - my fellow recycling fanatic! Love to you hun, you're a massive sweety pie Newr and Callie, and the "black man" (that's what you told me to call you... I never did find out your name,) and of course Del and Magdalena ("YOU SMELL SO GOOD!!!") Hahaha, Magdalena, you are seriously hilarious... got a fricken great photo of you too Oh, and the people I came with... thanks for making the weekend really great I you guys!

If I forgot you, it is most likely because I was too trashed to remember I met you LOL!!

Overall, the venue was not what I expected, but better than last years. The music was fantastic, the people were pretty awesome (so friendly and nice ) I am exhausted now, so I am off to bed. If I think of anything else to say later, I will mention it.

EDIT: I think I have the time screwed up a little... Dennis, did you play 5-6?

so in comparison, i'd say TA stage was good

true enough. the front area of the ta stage was dirt as well but nothing like the dnb stage.

ya the brown/black "boogers" were just plain annoying and still having some issues with it lol not to mention the nostrils arent meant to be exfoliated! lol

lastnight i finally figured out how to zip up the sleeping bag only to find a HUGE pile of sand in it that i had to shake out .. tent looks like a beach volleyball court lol michelle slept through all my huffing and puffing and throwing of sleeping bag then there was sleep! hehehe

great times for sure!

taking pics from the stage is the best. you can see people doing all kinds of weird/funny/cool things and i just take a pic of it. it sure beats walking through the crowd and looking for stuff. and the lens i was using last night belongs to my sister. 28-105mm with USM so it sure beats my 18-55mm piece of shit. i didnt want wacked people hitting or even breaking the lens.

nostrils arent supposed to be exfoliated? damn it, you should've told me sooner. not only do i exfoliate but i also get microdremabrasion.
and i could never camp there. i would feel so dirty.

check your pm's.

Finally woke up again from another nap hehe. What can I say other than what a freak show. Between the group of girls dressed as fairies, bunch of people walking around in robot suits, to the creepy tailer park white people stumbling around hitting everyone, and straight out creepy guys rubbing their balls while watching girls dance. I actually had quite a good time with my friends at our campsite staying away from the zoo that was the main area of WEMF. I pretty much went for the rock music, and caught the two bands I went for (controller.controller. and broken social scene and a bit of Pilate) and inbetween all that free time I was walking to the trance addict stage and pretty mcuh dancing for a few hours before relaxing at our camp site in the North west corner of the map. I didnt get to see many of you, but for the few I did, was good to see you guys. Max, Ben, and that cutie friend of yours (Josie, Johanne?) thanks for showing me around some times and chilling out a bit. Shame we didnt get to see much more of each other, but after awhile I really wanted to stay away from the middle area and just chill out at the campsite. Anyhow, good times, but definately trying to stay away from WEMF for some time again.

Hope to see you all at LOL.

Well to each their own, I wouldnt be surprised if people didnt want to say hello to me, but I make myself as friendly as possible and try to have a good time. No one really owes anyone anything, but if you introduced yourself as a TA, I definately would be a good host at my campsite and make you feel welcomed just because id share good times with decent normal looking people instead of all the crazy random sketchbags that were there.

Stop trying to deny your love for cockfest, gay boy. You know at the heart of every cockfest is a Vivid just partying his ass off.

No hun, not you. I think the group of people who did it know who they are.

And Rod, no they don't owe anyone anything, but when someone clearly says "hey, a bunch of TA's! Hi!" the least they could have done was say hello. No need to be rude.

I know, but in the end, you cant imagine everyone looking to be nice, even if you do know them in some way. Even tho I am very blunt and rude on here to some people, I am really the opposite outside and very welcoming, but I think it could be a pain in the ass to have to be nice and welcoming to every single person who says they post on TA, just because you share a single common interest doesnt mean you are forced to like everyone. Its not really enough to expect anything special, cause in reality most of us are pretty much strangers.

last night was funny though. i went up to the lighting/sound booth and totally didnt realize that it was you. after a minute i was like "oh shit, jay! whats up?" and i felt like an idiot. but me recognizing you at TIL? no chance. i only recognize you when you're fiddling with switches and sliders in a booth. kinda like how people dont recognize me when im not carrying my camera.

as for the white light, i didnt notice. there were a lot of things that i didnt notice last night but i sure noticed that the lighting was a bitch to work with.

did anyone see the idiot at the back of the field where the ta stage was. some idiot lit a firework and started shooting it up in the air first then decided to point it at people in the crowd. all i saw were people running from fireballs being shot at them. fucking morons....

thats not always true. i can think of a couple people on this forum that arent very fond of me (they probably really hate me for that matter) and i see no point in me saying hi to them when i know that i will not get the same response back, or i would get a very fake one. i'll just save myself the hassle and move along.

but if it was someone that has always been cool with you and vice versa, then yes it is rude to not say hello.

Good times indeed. This was my first WEMF and I hope to be able to do this again. I usually dont write lengthy reviews but this was a new experience for me so theres a lot to talk about.

The weekend didnt get of to a very bright start when we arrived at about 5 am saturday morning only to find out that the dumbass at the ticketmaster outlet who sold us 2 day passes claiming they were valid from midnight onwards was wrong since it was actually 12 PM the following day. Anyhow we had to pay the difference to match the 120$ they were charghing at the gate which required us to find an ATM. Now tweed is a town that hasnt quite embraced technology yet so it took about 40 minutes of driving around to finally find one.

Finally got in around 6 am and headed straight to our tent in the TA area (thanks for setting us up linz, ur the best). This was my first contact with the great outdoors of any sort since ive never gone camping before so it took to lot of bitching and moaning before finally accepting that I was going to be sleeping on hard ground without a blanket and using a towel for a pillow since we forgot ours back home.

That aside, WEMF was an amazing experience. The crowd was sketchy but most wernt beyond what u would see at a typical night out at the guvernment although there was the odd person who looked like they could get the lethal injection and get high of it. The only thing that disgusted me was the see young children over there with their parents (what the fuck happened to it being a 16+ event). A fine way to raise your kids by making them wear hippy t shirts and have pony tails and be set loose without any monitoring between the typical WEMF crowd when they are like 5 years old. Way to go dad.

Chilled most of saturday morning in the tent before heading out for lunch and a beer run in the afternoon. I took up the advice of previous WEMF goers about avoiding the food sold inside and i guess it turned out to be a good call since I didnt have to indulge in any activities that required me to sit on those toilets which quite frankly were the most disgusintg thing i have ever seen. After getting back we checked out the Euro dance battle. It was good fun hearing tunes that got me moving in the dance music direction in the first place. Got back to the tent and busted open the booze and about 2 hours later I was soooo drunk I dont know what hit me.

Spent the entire night in the TA stage area and all the DJs were very good. John '00' Fleming was absolutely unbeleivable and played the set of the weekend IMO. A close second would be Anne Savage who I thought was quite a cutie in her own way. Anyhow, the standard basslines were fast and banging and for once, the alcohol didnt slow me down. I was going absolutely nuts till about 5 am when the feet gave away. Passed out shortly after and left around 9 am sunday morning with a massive hangover which im still nursing.

Great meeting everyone and I hope to see you all next year.

Posted by Mans _wp_ on Jul-24-2006 04:36:

heres my little review:

we got there at 13:00 saturday. the setup was ok, but you gotta love hardcore camping (everybody who came in saturday with a tent knows exacly what im talking about). Security & police were all over the place, and I think they did a great job (at least i didn't notice any incident). I was there for thrillseeker and fleming, but I also wanted to hear new stuff.

+: Im new to d&b and i must say : wow. I was amazed by this type of music. Great work MCs. from now on I will have to say that SOMES D&B MCs are artists! (but hey, the 'stfu during trance sets' rule is still in effect).

+: Everybody, Its a great thing to see new generations of open minded people that respect each others. Hard core ravers, casual candys, clubbers, ginos, goths, MCs, all hands together to create special vibes. Worked for me.

+: sound, outdoors even are so nice. If its to loud, you just move away. If its not loud enough, you just go sit next to the guy whos hears are bleeding (wtf man!)

enough flowers

-: To a DJ playing in the afternoon saturday. DO NOT stop the track the previous DJ putted on. EVEN IF IT IS NOT YOU STYLE. EVEN IF IT MEANS YOU WILL LOSE 1-2 minute of you play time. some of us are actually listening to whats coming out of the speaker. whats better; start a set with a slight 3 minutes delay, or start a set with angry, unsatisfied listeners wondering 'why the hell did he do that for'. I will not remember you for your set (maybe because I left after your fabulous intro). BTW congratz to the previous DJ for the set that ended with that so nice brisky remix, I didn't know at the time, but it was going to be the best trance track of the weekend.

-: Speaking of trance. it sucked. I mean, OK so there is a stage, sponsored by TRANCEAddict, with a mix of house djs and trance djs. Good! so i though : house music, AND trance music (shame on me for expecting that.) After Jelo's set, (was good!) i though we would go more into trancy stuff to introduce thrillseeker, and then followed with Mr. fleming back to more 'dancing floor approved' tracks. But it didnt happen. Great intro by Scott Stubbs, the dance floor was ready for some of the best epic trance Mr Helstrip had to offer... And we received tracks like Yellow "Oh Yeah" and Randy Katana - Play It Loud. CMON, I paid 75 $ to hear one of the greatest trance producer! Play some of your stuff, play something you do like ! not thoses crappy fillers. But the dance floor was responding. Some were expecting trance, others were expecting 'something' different. the trance community was not properly represented by thrillseekers. of course we had our Synaesthesia (sublime would have been better) but you know what, I can listen to that 'new track' 'born slippy' at home. As a headliner, you play your style and let the other dj follow you. Even more in a mixed genre environment, listeners are ready for that. If not, then its the organizers's problem. And the trance fans are still happy.

Fleming, did a good job, but I was soooo dissapointed at thrillseeker that wasnt really in the mood.

I didn't know the others DJ after Fleming, but hey Mark EG is a crazy man. (Maybe too crazy note: the music will not play propely if you drop a 24 500ml water bottles case on the turntables, but I guess he knows that now )

Great set by Savage. smooth mixing, nothing to complicated, but it was ok like that.

I was dissapointed (again) when I realized they didn't finished the night with trance DJs, (I didnt know what to expect from Drag N Fly and Bratan). But you know, Outdoor event, Sun rising, TranceAddict's stage ? maybe, eu.. Trance ?

Trance is dying here. And even tranceaddicts don't care.

Jo

Oh man where to start

I fucking love WEMF!! I had such a fucking blast. I'm probably going to have more negatives than positives but I still had the time of my life as always, I don't let little petty shit bother me.

I really only hit up the 4/4 stage with the exception of a few minutes here and there in the hardcore room (which had a terrible sound system).

The 4/4 stage was fucking sweet. Great lights, great sound, assloads of room, it was great. Thrillseekers really rocked. I died when he dropped Synthesasia, and that other song, shadowsomethingorother. I didn't catch JOOF, but I hear he kicked some ass. OS/2's set was all over the place, jumping from Cosmic Gate to False Light, to Public Domain, no flow at all, but, it was REALLY fucking fun ahahah! Anne Savage was great too. BAAAH acctually all the music fucking rocked on the 4/4 stage!

I played a really sweet set on the DCM's Renegade, which I recorded, gonna upload it later. I listened to it on the way home, it's like perfect yay!

I found ten bux and a bag of 6 pills on the ground haahha.

Great to see all you TOTA's again. Andrew, nice job on the mainstage, pretty much a flawless set.

Keith, great to see you again bro, that track of yours sounded sweet on the loud speakers. I was pretty rocked and sorta wandered off before you finished, then I couldn't find you again when it wore off hahaha.

Jem, good times dude. The only TA who outlasted me on the dancefloor. Woulda been a whole nother story if I dropped though ahhahaaha.

I saw DJ IRENE by the mainstage!

You Canadians really know how to fucking party. I'm so sad to be home. I think I'm going to go set my tent up in the yard, and play 6 different kinds of music at the same all around me and pretend I'm still @ WEMF.

AAAAH! I love WEMF! See you all again soon!
