Wow! Just checked these out and I can't wait to see these documentaries. The John Lennon one especially - I always wanted to know what impact he really made on the general public during his time - this documentary seems like its going to touch the political aspect of his impact as well. Awesome....

Great thread Pett...

Then you might want to watch Imagine - A tribute to John Lennon.

My recommendations:

-"Small Town Ecstasy" details here

-"Party Monster: The Shockumentary" the original documentary, not the remake (apparently available for rent on Netflix or purchase on Amazon)

-"Supersize Me"

-"Murderball" (haven't seen it but I hear its great)

-"March of the Penguins"

-"Wadd: The Life & Times of John C. Holmes"

MAESTRO , directed by Cuban born, NY raised, Josell Ramos, is the first documentary to explore the roots of the Underground Dance Music Culture. It tells the story of how a group of people found refuge and a call for life outside the mainstream, what evolved was a scene that set the ground work for what was to come in Dance Music Culture worldwide.

Maestro reaches into the late 60s till the early 80s when NYC gave birth to this culture. Its a film 4 years in the making. It centers on the pivotal pioneers behind exclusive spaces where people went to party and set free the many social restrictions of the time, allowing those of different genders and colors to party together.

Francis Grasso, Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, David Mancuso and Nicky Siano tell their tale of friendship and tragedy. The rules of creative freedom set by these individuals paved the groundwork for DJs and Clubs worldwide. Maestro, with never before seen footage of pivotal clubs like the Paradise Garage, The Loft and The Gallery will take you into a visual trip through the underground as we knew it.

For a long time the Dance Music Scene has been only associated to criminality and drug abuse. Finally, heres a film that takes a different route and prospective to underline the importance of this cultural movement.

March of the penguins & The Smartest Guys in the room.. have already been mentioned, and they are awesome.

"Why We Fight" is a another great one, it's about the US military-industrial-congressional complex.

America: Freedom to Fascism

Every last person in North America must watch this. If you think your paying your income tax because you have to think again.

There is absolutley NO LAW which states you must pay income tax!

The Federal Bank has been robbing the public and secretly running the government since 1913 because they (a private bank) was given the right to print the bank notes. (They bribed politicians in 1913 to achieve this feat)

Watch this film, it is without a doubt the most important one you will see in a very very long time.

And STOP PAYING INCOME TAXES!
