i've had this for a while but haven't read it yet...

I ordered that one along with Dry. And he has a new one out but its supposedly not as good and Scissors and Dry.

Ugh. I HATE Jhumpa Lahiri. I read one of her books in 2003 and it put me to sleep.

I actually read this book last semester for one of my classes and found it to be very informative. However, there are a few other books which are more thorough which can supplement or replace this one.

Is there any type of Buddhism that interests you most? I'm more knowledgeable in Zen considering it's so widespread in Japan.

Japanese Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism interest me the most but feel free to recommend any reads that you thought were good.

Three books come to mind right now:

Taking the Path of Zen

The Three Pillars of Zen

Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind (An especially great read. It's short but is chock full of meaning).

I'll definitely get back with a few more tomorrow. Still have a bunch lying in the trunk of my car.

The People's Act of Love

just finished:

House of the Spirits
Life of Pi
Interpreter of Maladies

I am a huge sucker for fiction, especially historical fiction. I have read all of these books several times, as I can never read a book I enjoyed only once. I nurse the dim hope that someday I will be able to write something worthwhile, so I reread all my favorites in the hope that I will catch some clues from the author.

I highly recommend these 4 books.
