...go away. No one's stopping you from looping your "hottest hits of '94" playlist, or even from keeping your nostalgically elitist BS in MD.

give him a break, at least hes not talking out of his ass.

I'm not taking sides with you two, but there's no reason Ishkur has to choose this as a venue to repeat himself for the 50,000th time. There are plenty of other places here where he can and does do that, and that's all fine & dandy. Going hunting for places to throw in 1-line insults, though, is just irritating.

ok...

Round 2. FIGHT!

i don't mind him stepping in, educating the ignorant is something everyone whos not ignorant should pursue.

I've gotta completely disagree with you on that one. That just makes educated people frustrated & ignorant people resentful.

we'll agree to disagree, i think it makes educated people fulfilled and ignorant people less ignorant. Win-Win in my book.

Only if the ignorant wish to be taught. That is not usually the case, though. If you reworded it to "Offering education to the ignorant is something everyone whos not ignorant can do, to the benefit of all," I'd be more inclined to agree. That allows for people to choose not to learn.

Going around and beating people over the head with an idea is destructive (at least for anything for which greater understanding and intellectual fulfillment is the sole benefit, rather than actual survival). Offering a hand, but accepting any response is productive.

i see your point, you think im forcing education. Well, maybe it comes off that way, but in the end it's their choice if they want to listen or not. Im not pointing a gun to their heads. If they want to listen, good for them, it will open their minds a bit more, if they don't then they can go fuck themselves, and i just waste some time, but at least i tried. They should thank me either way.

Dude, im an ignorant because i don't dig your music? I know who Mark Farina is, as if no one ever shamefully listened to his "barfly" mix. I might not want to express much admiration for the man as you will, but in no ways am i an ignorant. So please stick to the facts, you are offended because i insulted your dj, period.

Get a life.

Posted by Danny Ocean on Jul-30-2006 03:08:

i could care less if you like him or not. im calling you ignorant because you classified him as a techno DJ which is the last thing he is. and im not offended by anyone whom i don't hold in high regard.
This is not the only time you've made ignorant comments by the way, remember that gay thread with all your homophobic remarks in the NYC forums? most of your comments there were ignorant.
And that get a life remark is funny comming from you.

No, I don't think that. I understand where you're coming from, but I'm just saying that that's the way it's perceived by ignorant people, when those who are more educated correct them without invitation. However, taking the stance that you're doing them a favor certainly won't do much good, since they didn't ask for it in the first place.

Note: I'm not talking about you or anyone else specifically, just debating the concepts in principle...i.e. Danny, I'm not saying you're condescending, or, diggerz, you're ignorant.

With that in mind, keep in mind, guys, that "better" is not objective with regards to music. "Complex," "advanced," "cohesive," "innovative," etc.--those are all matters of fact, but to one person, a song could be better for its simplicity, imitable vocals, and the fact that a lot of other people like it, while another person's preferences might lead them to the conclusion that a track is "better" due to highly proficient production. Both people are right in their respective assessments--a Vengaboys production might correctly be determined to be just as "good" as one from Richard James.

vengaboys? ftw...ask dave.

I agree. I hate educating people. That's why I make fun of them instead.
