Those of you saying that Earth, Wind, & Fire song is crappy, you need to check your head.

he did that LIVE as in FIRST TIME EVER pushing buttons ON THE FLY. This video wasn't showcasing the cream of the crop that he can do with it. He was showing how fast you can work with this. Please actually learn what the hell Live is before stating it will kill music

and like i said before... He was using Live 4, and Reason 2.5. I think this video is 3 years old? something like that?

Slightly off topic but...

Please please please can someone point me in the direction of this set: BT (Laptop Symphony) - Live @ Two Tribes in Melbourne Park (07-03-2004)

Didn't mean literally crappy.

When I turned 18, I got my first real full time job working in the Gap clothing store and they had the same cd playing over the speakers every fucking day all summer long. And this Earth, Wind & fire song was on repeat and even though its well produced I fucking cringe every time I hear it.

On topic: BT is one of the top 3 EDM producers hands down, his works speak for themselves. And hopefully his upcoming album will prove that he has not slacked off over the years.

re: richie hawtin vid:

i dont know what the fuck's goin on there but it sounds cool. is there a tutorial somewhere or video to show what buttons to push? im a c++ programmer yet i play old gritty trippy house records from pawn shops and used bins haha.

and no the bass cutting out is not annoying imo. when i watched this vid i went to my crate and started digging for some non melodic groovy blippy tunes to play along with the video; i pulled out some ozgur can record since it has a similiar sound and it blended nicely. every so often on TA someone posts a vid or mp3 link and it makes me go to my crate. does that happen to anyone else here? haha.

+1

he said it himself that it was an experiment. Also, it's not like he was performing, from the look of that audience he had it was probably either some trade show or something like that, obviously not a gig.

just curious what kind of laser controller is that BT was using?

and i mean BT has skillz...if you don't like his style you still gotta give him that.

It's sometime he co-developed and is based around the stutter effect he uses in a lot of his productions. I'll try and find the interview i read it in later

It's also really cool to see him use it live. I saw BT live when he first started using Ableton, when it was in it's infancy. Oh man, he did some crazy stuff with a bunch of plugged in insturments and that light thing. If anyone caught any of his Laptop Symphony tour they know what i'm talking about. That was just some gorgeous music and programming all around.
