jeese guys! its the middle of the week! dont you remember having to wait till pay day before buying vinyl???? or the weekend when you werent at work? actually enjoy the music you bought from beatport a few days earlier! and have some patience! just take it for granted that you have mp3 distribution at all these days. think how it was like back in the days of proper releases

They had to re-write a lot of it to make it fully compatible with Internet Explorer 7 (some of you may have used the beta, it won't be officially released until Vista comes out)

And they've made it localise currencies - so if your IP address is based in the US you get prices in USD, Europe get prices in EUR and in the UK we get prices in GBP... of course they've repriced everything in different regions so tracks are no longer 80p in the UK, they've aligned them with the other UK download sites - i.e. everything's 1.50 now.

If you're in the UK, fuck Beatport.

Trackitdown (www.trackitdown.net) are now top of the game... they've got just about every label Beatport have and a hell of a lot more, the site's much better designed and more reliable and it's not gonna take an international call if something goes wrong - the only edge Beatport had were the prices and now that's gone.

And whoever mentioned DJ Download is having a laugh... their prices are all over the place, it's far too easy to accidentally get a 192k copy instead of a 320k copy and they've got fuck all on there compared to the other big download sites.

i'm liking the site update.

they finally implemented a feature that recommends other tracks based on what other people are buying!

I've never had this problem with beatport tunes i've purchased. IMO they have one of the longer sample lengths for customers... fuck, trying buying from psyshop.com... 45 sec samples.. now that, I have a problem with... but beatport is usually 2mins.. which is long enough for me.

I dunno about Trackitdown... I ONLY buy from there when I can't find it on beatport, but then I end up paying 3$ per track... almost double what I pay for stuff on beatport... plus Trackitdown is FUCKING slow for me.. I hate "browsing" that place.. feel like I am on dial up again..

So you can buy/spin what everyone else is playing?? I sure hope not.

uh, i didn't mean like that... i mean it's cool to get other recommendations based on similar stuff, because sometimes you can find tunes you normally wouldn't have found that way.

i also like the My Artists/My Labels/My Genres feature. cool shit.

ehhh wtf, now they don't tell you how long tracks are anymore? i do not like that.

Posted by superglo on Aug-09-2006 01:36:

seems a teeny lil bit faster to me.

aaaaaaah.

I hope they have better quality samples like AudioJelly does. I always go to AudioJelly to hear samples, then see if BeatPort has the same track and buy it there.

TrackItDown has WAVs. But they are expensive...even more so than BeatPort, esp if you live in America (exchange rates).

That's got to go.

Posted by D-res on Aug-09-2006 04:06:

i just posted a couple different problems i was having with beatport seeking answers just to realize i was dumb or i was running into bugs so if you just read this whole post, i apologize for wasting your time because i have absolutely nothing to say

Now for the TA upgrade...

Posted by ieko on Aug-09-2006 04:37:

I'm finding the text on the site a little hard to read. I'm definitly not liking the fact that I have to hover over releases to figure out what the catalogue number is. And I totally agree that they need to put back the track length.

I take back about the site being slower. It seems to be doing quite well in terms of speed right now.

Posted by skip on Aug-09-2006 08:31:

oh fuck this! fucking fucks! the price is 1,49 now, what a fucking joke. and not being able to see the lenghts of the tracks! fuck that, i for one am not gonna buy a single track from there until i know how long they are. the beatport guys have always been fucking idiots, but this takes the cake!

Posted by blacknoizybox on Aug-09-2006 13:35:

no shit!!! i cant see the length of the tracks!! what do you mean the price is 1.49 EURO insteed of 1.49 USD? ?????? WTF>>>>??????
aahhh *laughs* im also having an error in Opera browser. says "you need Macromedia Flash 8" lol!!

Another thing to complain about. Beatport said that next time they do an update they will make sure if there is a track you cannot buy because of regional issues it just wont be displayed... Still crap, still get region blabla bullshit

Posted by ieko on Aug-09-2006 14:50:

I hope not!! There were many times where I had to get around that.
