Ok, i don't know what to say about last night ... i was a bit dissapointed by some of Tiesto's song selection, it seemed like his set had no flow, it was just random songs one after the other, plus he looked so fed up with the mixing throughout the whole night, not to mention that he was pissed drunk. He picked up once his set was comming to an end, which was good, got to hear some of the ISOS5 hits like "Moonlight Party" and "Empty Streets".

Highligh of the night: Tiesto dropping Richard Durands remix of Lethal Industry.

Shitty part of the night: The place was overcrowded, no room to dance, everyone pushing each other and stepping on each others feet.

Funny part of the night: 2 girl friends i went with got picked up by the security guards inside Dragonfly to go backstage and meet Tiesto. So they went, half an hour later, or maybe more, not important lol, they both come out running and freaking out which i initially thought was due to excitement but i was later to find out that it wasn't excitement after all, but something more on the lines of distress. Backstage, after spending some time in the dj booth and in the back, the girls asked Tiesto for a picture and he replied to one of them (quote) "Get naked and i will take a picture with you" and to other he said "Show me your tits and suck my cock". I was cracking up when i heard that last night, and thought that the world's #1 Dj has some serious snake charming skills and knows how to talk to the ladies I wasn't surprised that he wouldnt take a picture with his fans since thats nothing new, but his reaction was off the hook lol

Conclusion: Dragonfly still kicks ass, thank God for Mark Oliver...and most important, REMEMBER...Tiesto is NO Armin!!! I had an awesome time regardless, good to see some of the TA's Sry Nada for not sticking around for the picture, had to jet since my friends were just leaving, but defenatly next time! Oh & ur a sikk dancer yourself

Hope everyone had a good one, i'll c u next time, Cheers!

I got what I wanted out of the night. My jacket that I actually went all the way to Magik Records for has actually been signed and I left happy (minus my feet fucking hurting as all hell from wearing heels )

Anyhow, I will write more later, cuz I definitely have a review for this. But for now, I have gotta get my ass to work.

I'm sooooooo envious girl!!! But happy for you at the same time

edit: Pawel, nice pics...esp. the one of the posters Did anyone take any vids?!?

He brought the bombs all night long, twas a great time.
i really enjoyed the first track it had some "dance4life" vocal in it, i thought that was pretty cool.
unexpected tune of the night was pete heller - simpler.
The crowd could have been a little less pushy and annoying but whatever i chose to ignore it and have a good time instead.
nice seeing everyone out!
p.s. they need to fix that sound system. so distorted in area, my ears were crying this morning.

The track he opened his set with is the official anthem for Dance4life and it's called Tiesto feat. Maxi Jazz - Dance4Life.
And your ears were not crying cause of any "distortion" the place is just to small for the huge speakers they have, alhough this time the levels were way lower than when i went there to see Armin.

What an amazing road trip to Dragonfly and casino. Tiesto ripped me a new one. i hope someone puts up a track list cause i was too hammered with petty and don;t really rememember, all i know is that i walked out soaked head to toe in sweat. It was amazing to have been able to spend time with the NCTA's; Robbie, Johnny, Jen and Terry. I hope you guys are able to come up for LOL.

wow that is pathetic, i thought he had better standards that that. I wish she had slapped him or somthing!
nonetheless he puts on a good show every time!

Posted by darouge11 on Aug-14-2006 20:27:

not workin out lol

Posted by devnull on Aug-14-2006 20:32:

wow what a kickass night!!

quick entry (less than 10 minutes!). I found the body search to be overboard, mind you its niagara falls !! I mean the body search at rumourz is less than that, and its a known place for fights and thugs!

during mark oliver, there was tons of space to dance! loved that! most of his tracks were great but some were sleepers.

the place was indeed overcrowded and i was shocked that they were still selling tickets at the door. I asked one of the bouncers and he said more than 1000 tickets were sold....when the place fits 600...mind u his numbers might of been off!

the sound was ..... ear dangerous but great!!!

what time did tiesto stop playing???? I left at around 4AM and it was still going strong...

Was nice to meet Jenn(magikb) and Nada.

Now i cant wait for Digweed at Dragonfly, and better not be as packed! (doubt it)

Especially comming from the world's #1 Dj ... he was shitfaced too, he probably thought he was at some gig in Ibiza, where people live off of concentrated meals ( 1 pill of E per meal) and figured what he was asking for was fair and square lol

To be honest though, i was MOST dissapointed by his interaction with the crowd, his long "fuck this" face ... not the attitude i would expect from a DJ of his caliber. The guy couldnt wait to get to his hotel... not cool

Posted by NuERA on Aug-14-2006 20:53:

what are some of the tunes he played?

Posted by Sweeper on Aug-14-2006 20:53:

ok so
-Mark Oliver was great as usual
-Was front row for tiesto start and the pushing was so ridiculous that girls were getting squished and couldnt breathe.
-Grabbed a few pics and headed out of there lol
-Good set, amazing ceieling
-Overall Great night but too pushy

Posted by Sweeper on Aug-14-2006 20:57:

First time being to Dragonfly and I have to say it was an incredible experience. Just to have the chance to hit somewhere different for the first time in a long time was a welcome experience but despite everything I had heard about this place, nothing prepared me for the absolutely stunning presentation of this place. Talk about a properly themed nightclub! Its been awhile since I've seen this kind of attention to detail put towards the asthetics and atmosphere of a nightclub. Truly in a class of its own. Borrowing a lot from the city of Vegas with the well designed and stylish bathrooms to the overhead LED ceiling featured prominently on Freemont Street for anyone that has been to Vegas will know.

Really impressed with the very helpful and amazingly nice and well mannered staff - from the bouncers to hosts to bartenders. I wish we had the same here in Toronto! Really shows you what a club can be. The only complaint I would have is the same as someone has said earlier in this thread and that is to have more seating outside of the VIP area for people to chill and take a breather after they've been dancing up a storm.

The crowd was very different from Toronto. Say what you want about Tiesto fans but on this night everyone was just having a really good time. Can't believe I actually could get right up to the booth without people shoving me or elbowing or the usual crap that we get here! People were pretty nice in general and no attitude. A really nice change of pace!

Onto the Music...really wasn't impressed with Mark's set at all. Dance floor kinda died for the most part which is too bad because I really think Mark is usually an absolutely great DJ (one of my fav locals) but just didn't seem to have much flow or consistency this night. Sound system sounded very turned down and crappy...this quickly changed when Tiesto finally took the decks at 1 and turned the sound....and the party up! Right off the start he dropped his new track Dance4life (with Maxi Jazz from Faithless) - love that track! After that it was one great track after another...absolutely relentless and had us dancing till he finished at 4:30ish and Mark came on...being that I had to work today, it was definitely time to go. But all in all an absolutely great time and kudos to the Guv team for once again pulling off a great club!

After the first hour of tiestos set, I thought we were in for something special but he just went downhill from there. He also seemed to be more interested in the 5 people behind him rather than the 500 in front.

And I agree about the Tiesto crowd. The crowd was a lot more refined at Armin but here we had a lot of sketch and stepping on the feet and not letting you go through.

And he played my 2 best tracks of the night, Way out west - mindcircles and Supermode - Tell me why (Angello and Ingrosso mix) at 1:50 am just as we were heading back to the bar for some drinks and I ended up missing last call because of that since I stuck around on the floor

The last hour of Mark Oliver made me glad tiesto left. Hes impressed me yet again.

I had a good time overall and despite this letdown will probably see tiesto again next time hes in town.
