Working for the Uni Bookstore FTW!

I fucking LOVED my job at the UW Bookstore. So great.

Def best part-time job I had. It was so enjoyable. ^5

Yeah, I worked on campus, it was pretty sweet. Just a few hours a shift and all, but pays for the beers.

+1

I was doing research during the year...and I had to put in crazy amounts of hours... But I guess it's nothing compared to holding a job and going to school.

True.
Most of my work was done in studios, so I couldn't really bring my work home. I tried working, but then found I was skipping work most of the time to go to school and work ( yes, this means Sat. and Sun. too). So like I said, I have a lot fo respect for those who have heavy corse loads ( or not) & can manage keeping a part time job.

my room mate absolutely hated it - schedule all over the place, small money, insanity during the first 2 weeks of the term when they put her as a cashier, lifting of heavy books boxes

anyhow, Mona I'd suggest you try to get a part-time job on campus, would be easier for you, cos you'd be already on campus studying, and 10-15 hours per week should fit in with your lecture schedule

I'll be working 32 hours this fall/winter. and it's my last year at school. no days off for me this year.
im not sure if i can make it though... this kinda schedule is getting depressing after 2.5 years without a break.

Good luck. I went through college working and average of 25 to 40 hours a week. Classes took up about 40 hours a week, during the first year and then increased. Let me tell you, no social life and barely no time for homework and studying. I did quite well but by the end I was a zombie. Once I started working it was so much less work, a relief. Cudos to all that go to school and work.

I'll be balancing 5 classes with a full time job....

i'm actually looking forward to it.

Bartending is the best way to make money. When I did that, I usually worked Thursday-Sunday nights and made so much cash. Plus, I enjoy bartending, so it made my job even better.

The worst job I had while going to school is a cashier. I had to work allll the time, and never had enough time to study.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do! I hope everything works out for you.

I wish I had opted to work less during my university years. My advise is enjoy it while you can even if it means coping with being broke sometimes and not being able to spend as much as you'd like when you are out. Working full time, once your career gets going, takes far more energy than the 40 hour engineering school week + homework + part time job set up that I had at university.
