Did I say I have a problem?

Eric Prydz whoring his stuff is like Ferry whoring his stuff. It never gets old

Posted by Ivand on Aug-25-2006 01:54:

G&D, Trentemoller and Hawtin (he ALWAYS has to at least sample spastik) are total whores (even tho i dont complain from Trent)

Sasha(Imagine Sasha playing xpander in all his sets) , Diggers, Zabiela, Cattaneo, Oakey, etc etc

Are you being serious? If not...first of all, they broke up. Second, they didn't DJ as far as I know, they performed live, so of course they would only play their own productions.

Some of Marco V's sets are like mixed artist albums and Tiesto still plays some of his own relatively old stuff (read: Traffic, Flight 643, Lethal Industry, Adagio For Strings).

anyone wanna vote for james lavelle?

i do.

Posted by Salegon on Aug-25-2006 12:26:

I can say that I don't care about "whoring".

that GU cd? like 95% of unkle stuff.

Posted by DJ Nickazz on Aug-25-2006 15:42:

Tisto doesn't spin much of his own productions in his "decent sets". With TIC, Disney etc -in other words the commercial mainstraim gigs- he plays much of his own stuff but that's obvious because these people don't know shit.
Imo Armin whores his labeltunes much @ ASOT and al his gigs.

well they normally do "live" shows so its not really that surprising

Posted by slinkyhead on Aug-25-2006 17:12:

Paul van Dyk is by far the worst, he must get so bored from playing For an Angel.

Tiesto doesnt anymore at all altho he did go thru a phase a year or two ago. Ferry hasnt played too much of his own stuff the last couple of times either.

Katana is one of the worst ive seen.

That's what I hate about Sensation. Everyone play nothing but their own.

Since when did we say it was wrong? Well, I guess I should speak for myself on this one, but I haven't said it's wrong for a dj/producer to whore their own productions despite any conotation I may be portraying. Sure, the fundamentals for djing is to play other people's tracks, but that's not the definitive status quo. If it's a viable means of self-promotion, then by all means they should go ahead and whore with all their pretty-haired might. But if their productions are lackluster and sound like a jet airplane ejaculating on Ugandan refugees, then I feel it's my obligation to tell them to start playing other people's music. I know the futility of it, but meh.

What is PA? There are 14 pages for PA on AcronymFinder, so...

ah, then that explains it.

Live PA basically means live production.

Granted it's from Remixed, but here's an article about different types - http://remixmag.com/mag/remix_live_pa/

According to Ishkur (God, I can't believe I'm quoting this)
quote:
Live PA (Performance Artist)
Someone who plays their own music live, all by themselves, entirely, using electronic equipment.
The major difference between a Live PA and a regular DJ is, of course, that a Live PA pays more attention to their profession and less attention to the crowd.

From what I've read on another board, this is how their setup works. I can confirm that he's right in October when he plays here.

After looking into this some time ago, it wasn't economically viable to us... 'bots could do it tho for sure.

He doesn't DJ - he plays w/ DJ T.O.M., who basically play his tracks & remixes while Trentemoller adds keys & effects over top. It is not the kind of impressive live PA Bucci did, IMO from the recordings I've heard.

If someone books him I'd check him out for sure!

I see... Thanks.
