Armin music wise has lost it to a degree. COmpare what he was playing in 2004 to what he plays now its all commercially accessable tunes or as i like to call it "ASOT by numbers". Too many anthems although mixed well just dont suit his older euphoric and bombbastic style

The last time i saw him play a truely amazing set was at Global in 2004. Although still anthemic it was as uplfiting as it gets and hit with so much energy it had people who hated trance talking about it afterwards. Bring back that style and ill start really liking Armin as a DJ again. Just now hes like all the rest for me.

You would think with his radio show his sets would be peppered with new tunes but its the complete opposite these days which is the most sad thing.

I have that set on my comp and i was there as well

Ok guys!! Im back and recovered from seing Armin and here is my verdict I posted on the Gods board, I've highlighted the stuff concerning Armin...

Really good night last night! I recognised quite a few people off here! Was good to meet Azzy G again!

The club itself was amazing, that was my first time there since 03 and the sound and light was just awesome and the crowd was really cool! What was with the poly snow getting sprayed out over the crowd! Was quite an amusing touch!

Got in at 11 and Marcus Schultz played a good solid set, everything you'd expect from him but what was with the last half hour where he was seamingly just putting a beat out to warm up for Armin? 3 bland tunes in 30 mins or so it seemed. Little bit too much respect there if you ask me! Altho was amaazing when he played Aalto - 5, what a tune!!

The first couple of hours Armin was pretty good, was cool opening with 2 mixes of Paulo Mojo - 1983 which I heard in the nitrogen room as well. It sounded amazing on the soundsystem! Then followed that with 8 Wonders - Sex on the beach which was just LUSH!! However the from 3.30/4am onwards Armin was absolutely $hit, couldnt believe how crap it was. Left at 5.30 after control Freak to catch my train, did he actually play ANY trance in the last 45 mins??!! He hardly played ANY uplifting trance and thats obviously the direction that he's taken so fair enough, but thats the last time im travelling miles to go and see him. He's completely changed his style much to my dismay only good trance he played really was:

Andy Moor vs Orkidea - YearZero (altho Schultz already had played this)
Above & Beyond - Tri State (Frase remix)
8 Wonders - Sex on the Beach
Chicane - Autumn Tactics (Thrillseekers Mix)
Cosmic Gate - Should have Known

And there were a couple of other really good ones. One which I need to ID cause it was euphoric! Huge super saw!

The rest of his set was composed with cheesy stuff like Racoon - Love You More and then some quality chunky stuff but he played too much of it imo. Then the last part I saw was just dire harder stuff like the SVD Arctic Monkeys remix and some Giuseppe Ottaviani drivle. Was not impressed at all, then went up to watch him in the booth and found out what a man-whore he is! Had about 3 lasses fighting over him at one stage!

Anyway, just thought I'd have that rant because I used to love Armin but am gutted now that hes changed his style so drastically

Was a class night tho! Just should have been better!
