Have to disagree with you bud, the truth actives are probably the most underrate of all monitors...in my opinion they compare with $1200 mackie monitors ive had the pleasure of listening to. so in that sense they are certainly up there with the krk series they simply have a different sound.

The Technics CD player is kind of gimmicky IMO. It has a spinning platter and is designed to look like their DJ headphones line or something.

I honestly think the only reason they made a CD deck was to carry on their name/brand from their industry standard turntable.

And to reiterate, Pioneer CDJ-200's are solid, and are what you should get (unless you decide to upgrade to 800's or so).

Ecler makes nice mixers; only downside is they don't have very many flashy/pretty lights on it at all, so if that's your thing, you may want to look at something else. I just checked the price... $370 isn't that bad. I don't remember how much the Pio DJM-400 is. The 400 was designed to 'match' the CDJ-200's.

Yeah the Truth's are good if you like it really loud with punchier bass, but the KRK's are better if you want good, clean sound that is "flatter" sounding. The Truth's are a bit more dynamic and may have a slightly better range, but they are closer to small, loud speakers vs. accruate studio monitors, which you really don't need per say DJing, but for home useage and closer to your ears at a lower volume..i'de say the KRK's are they way to go (the KRK RP5s). You really don't want anything too loud and you don't need that much bass.

Anyway I bought a shitty Behringer mixer with 3 channels and 2 Pioneer cdj 100.
Never buy Behringer mixers.
That was the cheapest I can get.
I must say I'm not completely satisfied with both devices.
Well it could have been worse.

I recommend the TRUTH B2031A's (looks like there's new ones coming out?). Either way they have an extremely flat frequency response with crips highs and great mid-body. Like Spirit mentioned they are a bit heavy on the low end which is the only colouration dinstinguishable. This imho, eliminates the need to buy a woofer. I think I agree with the statement that they're great for DJ'ing but not the best option for production (there's reall no "budget setup" for a production rig anyways!).

Another thing i'd like to mention is how clear they sound at minimal volumes which is what Behringer prides themselves on for this product.

I also second everyone else's recomendation for a pair of CDJ-200's, best bang for your buck by all means.

For a starting mixer if you can afford a DJM400 or an Ecler Nuo3. If you need to go cheaper i HIGHLY recommend the Vestax VMC004 as it was my first mixer and they are built to last! Great quality for such a cheap product.

I just prefer clean, flatter sounding but still with decent bass. I don't like extremely bass heavy speakers. The KRK RP8s were very bass heavy, but I prefer cleaner mids and highs.

yes cdj200's and the numark dxm06 would be very good to start w/...

I started with 2x pioneer cdj 1000 mk3's, they're not bad, you should give them a try!

Very basic and inexpensive if you ask me...

One alone would probably cost as much as 2 x CDJ 200s and a Numark DXM 06.

I decided to keep it really cheap so I bought 2 X pioneer cdj 100 and a shitty second handed but not used Behringer mixer.
Never tempt yourself with those.
They are totally crap lol.

I didn't have much time to dj because of the finals and stuff.
Also my CD burner is fucked so the discs skip and I can't cue them right.

The behringer was like 150$.
The CDJ 100 is well, pretty bad too.
If the cd isn't burned perfectly you can't cue because it skips.
Also I can't beatmatch hip hop like I wanted (I did a party for a friend) because there's not enough tempo to raise up or down.
But what I payed for is what I got.

You get what you pay for. Don't expect much if you don't pay much.

just wondering what you guys think of the stanton c.314
im thinking about getting two of them instead of the cdj 200 cause it has more features, i like how u can cue up the record like vinyl (since that's all i know) and the 200 doesn't seem to have many featurs and looks rather bland, but really all i see you guys saying is get CDJ 200, but no reason why, so please convince me and or tell me if the 314 is better

c.314's from all that I've heard are disappointing. Mainly their supposed vinyl emulation. There's been numerous complaints about how "it sounds the same for every track" and that it feels overall clunky and rushed in comparison with even Denons. I'd go for Pioneers any day of the week since they're industry standard, easy to pick up, and fun to play on. The other cdjs I've tried don't come close.
