Actually I think it's the opposite. Colbert seems to be this really smart, geeky guy who seems to act stupid, and Stewart is this really stupid, cool guy who seems to act smart .

But truth be told, they are both cool and geeky at the same time, and smart and stupid as well...haha

For those arguing who is funnier, dont forget they have a different schtick.

Stewart presents as himself as the average guy who points out the obvious stupidities in politics, media, etc. and cracks an occassional joke. He is not in character, per se.

Colbert presents himself as a right wing pundit like O'Reilly and he has to be in character all the time, that is his schtick.

Two totally different things, except that Colbert seems to do a damn fine job even when being chained down with all the limitations of his character that Stewart isn't.

Having said, Colbert is funnier. Just look at the BKAD segments.

The thing I haven't found with Colbert is that his character isn't believable. It's so tongue in cheek and it's almost as if he has trouble staying in character because you can hear somethings that he says that obviously aren't coming from the right wind pundit he's trying to portray, but from Colbert himself. I think if he stayed in character all of the time, and really copied those right wing pundits, then he would be alot funnier.

But I can't help but think each time he says stuff, he says it with a smirk that you can see he doesn't believe what he says and is obviously trying not to laugh. What would be funnier if he really tried to not do this (doesn't mean he has to believe what he says, but maybe be a little more convicing), and truly baffle the audience...almost like an Ann Coulter, someone so extreme that you can't help but see through it (yet with his case he doesn't but he should act like he does haha because that would really be more funny). I actually think Ann Coulter is more humorous, because the things she says are sometimes so outrageous yet she mysteriously believes what she says....and that it is scary and funny at the same time. Or this blog I read yesterday...shellytherepublican.com. No doubt Colbert can be funny, but I've just been disapointed by his show lately, I just laugh alot more watching Stewart, maybe because you know it's Stewart speaking and he believes what he says.
