Trick is...when you see any email from your bank, paypal, whatever and it says "Dear [insert institution] MEMBER"...

They only time you should believe that it's legitimate is when you see your actual name addressed in the email.

if u read 2 posts above this i state it wasnt thru paypal that i was robbed, someone just got a hole of my card details, and i dont know where its gone as my mum is handling it for me.
Maybe it was a coincidence that the email came and then i suddenly had no money i dont know, apparently paypal are investigating it, which i doubt they are, my card is now frozen (even tho its maxed out) and the bank is sending me some funds so i can leave this country.

I empathize with you deeply Jolz, having had it happen to me....although I wasn't in the middle of a foreign country!! I hope everything gets sorted properly for you!!

Looks like we are in the same boat. I'm waiting for the bank to send me some funds too so I can leave this country

um no. The only time you should believe its legitimate is when theres no link in the email.

A real bank, ebay or (I'm assuming) paypal email will NOT have a link to their website saying "OMG click here or else you gonna get scammed".

I get these at least 2 times in a week. recently a new one appear about payment to a dell latitude laptop which is also a scam. i forward these to [email protected]
