I can never find a proxy that works fast enough to even open the page.
Once it loaded and it didnt work.
I checked that it was the right place and all but nothing
I even got a webpage that tells you your "location" and it had the country and all.
Any advice on this. I have ended downloading a few songs of limewire because of this.
Couldnt DL it, couldnt find the vinyl.
What choice do you have?

check ur credit card records 24/7 people.

You seemed to have failed to grasp the very basic concept of the problem.

If you are restricted from purchasing a particular track because of territorial issues, it means that another record label holds the copyright for the area in which you are located, trying to get it from the other label is the only legal alternative; the track being available to purchase online or not that's another matter.

In regards to the usage of proxies etc has anyone ever actually done it?
I have this feeling that there has to be some type of protection at the time of checkout that would red flag the territorial restricted tracks and not let you proceed with the purchase based on your billing adress.

Well, if you want it legally you can get it from DJDownload.com. That's what I did.

I tried the proxy thing with lots of servers but couldn't get it to work.

Few months ago I had a friend on vacation in USA and he ordered the track for me on his laptop, then I downloaded it here in Canada where I normally get the error. They only check your location at the time you click "buy" and the actual download can be done anywhere.

BeatPort must be aware of the methods to bypass the territory problem and will probably plug all the loop-holes eventually.

Naturally, the company isn't obliged to direct the buyer to the label and exactly where they can perform the transaction. THe more sales that go through them, the better it is for them. Which is what they care about.

Which why there's so many ppl out there willing to get around the system by using their education or research to get what they want.

If these online shops and the labels don't wake up the dream that these shops offered will progressively become nightmares over time giving no other options but for the customers to fall back on p2p. Increasing prices from these shops certainly isn't helping when you see that some of the purchases done online are sometimes more expensive than if you bought an actual cd or vinyl.

sorry I'm ranting.
I'm just pissed off at the greed and nonsensical ways they are operating under.

Isn't the internet supposed to be region-free?

By pulling off stupid stunts like these, they are only pushing people to download tracks off limewire...smart businessmen they are

Posted by Whip_lash on Sep-27-2006 06:15:

I remember getting the territory BS on bp a while back for a certain song, so i went to djdownload for it and was able to download it even though the same label was selling it there... really wierd

Is there any way to tell where you can download a track so you can find someone to download it for you?

Yes but the label/artist/distributor contracts are not.

Posted by tubby on Nov-29-2006 22:04:

would it be better if beatport didn't even show you tracks it knew you could not buy? or at least flag it in the list so you don't waste your time on it?

Posted by Timski on Nov-29-2006 22:06:

Buy it on vinyl...

I was redirected from this thread and I thought I'd make use of it. Would anybody be willing to make a trade?

I need 1 track. It costs 1.49 American dollars.

The way this works is that you would buy me the track that I need and I would buy you 1 track of equal value so that we can trade through yousendit, megaupload, etc. Anybody please?
