Everyday I wake up and EDM stays out of the American mainstream culture I thank the music gods. Luckily for EDM, the American populace is pretty xenophobic when it comes to culture. You rarely see foreign films or foreign music getting awards at the big American award festivals. You rarely see fu�ball (soccer) on television. There is a fear/mistrust/whatever you want to call it of things imported from other countries. Therefore (thankfully) the media and marketing folks can't get their hands on this wonderful genre of music and do to it what they did to hip hop.

When the world has become so PC that we can't even use some non-offensive slang from one language because it offends someone who speaks another, that's where I draw the line.

Also, the person you're complaining about has been a member for a year, with nearly 500 posts, yet for some reason, you're the first one who's bitched about it. Get over it, not everyone's always going to conform to your idea of decency.

Actually, as much as I have been siding with them more lately, this sort of censorship is usually sponsored by the Democrats and is one of the things that I hate about the party. They're always trying to censor music, movies, video games, etc. in the names of protecting children and others from what they deem offensive.

I strongly dissigree, if u tune into any music channel bescides BPM u will hardley find anything to do with electronic music. The same goes for radio stations, there are a few but they are far between

I think there is alot more than people realize though, I mean, I could name at least 10 EDM people that have made clearchannel radio over the past few years

I could go on, and alot moreso if you include those hybridy type musics that are quite electronic sounding but arent traditionally classified under "EDM" like hip hop or industrial and whatnot.

Pop songs more and more are sounding like dance songs all the time, you can't say that there is no EDM influence in america. There were djs playing britney spears- toxic in their edm sets, that bitch is from ALABAMA, which is about as conservative redneck america hell as you can get.

I've heard those foreign stations during the say, the shit they play is cheesy EDM just like the cheesy EDM we get on the radio here. I don't think it is nearly as bed exposure wise as some people make it out to be. We have nighttime dance mixed on our radio too.

The problem here is really that the majority of these genres (house, techno, hip-hop, etc) started in America and actually did become somewhat popular in the US before they became less popular here and more popular overseas.

Personally, I'd say it's the unique American stereotype that only homosexuals listen to electronic music, accompanied by America's virulent homophobia that causes the unpopularity of this music in the US. Other sources of this style of music are similarly dealt with. I can't count the number of times I've heard Americans comment on the dress of European men, and how "feminine" it makes them look, an appearance that American boys are trained to avoid by peer pressure and the media. And don't even get me started on the Far East.

In germany it's the same. Dance music has no chance anymore. Not the slightest.
Which is actually the fault of the Kindergarten trancers starsplash, special d, groove coverage - you name them.

It's all about rnb/hiphop, unserious comic-music, cheap ringtones and popstar searching tv shows...but the people seem to love that stuff, which is kind of scary.
