I doubt it, I just think he's showing his social conscience like Bill Gates...once you've been to the top, time to reflect and give something back. At Sensation White Amsterdam, it was mostly House music this year. Tijs stepped onto the stage with his surprise DJ set a little after midnight and the crowd was just roaring. I was kinda surprised, actually...40,000 people there and mostly House music DJ's, so I really didn't expect that kind of reception.

Tiesto's now heavily involved with Dance4Life, a growing, worldwide project to fight back HIV and AIDS by dancing. During the Sensation party, they asked people to help out by texting a number on their mobile phones, and I'm sure a lot of money was raised for this cause (and it doesn't go to Tiesto: The money raised through Dance4Life projects goes to the National Concept Owners, the organisations who conduct Dance4Life in different countries. They will spend it on projects aimed at young people, care, awareness, training and prevention in those areas of the world most affected by HIV/AIDS).

Some of the money I donated with that text message went to help kids in Zambia, where 1 million children have no parents due to this devastating disease. I have always loved Tiesto's music and his magical ability to take me on a journey. He didn't have to get involved with Dance4Life, but he wanted to make a difference in the world. Much respect for that...see ya next time, Tijs!

Thats cool that hes getting involved with Dance4Life. Alot of the big guys are getting into charity, its nice to see, recent examples being the Involved events during WMC and Sasha's Tsunami benefit show last year.

Interesting...

Well, if that is indeed where his votes went, it's a strange group to choose...
He's totally on point with 2-3 of them, but the other ones are so off base I wonder how he came to that decision...

I'm not really into the DJ Mag Poll anyway.

It's once a year, and 70% of the votes come from N. America which really skews the whole view IMO.

If anything, the DJ List should be taken more seriously since it means fans are voting on a regular basis all year long for their favorite DJs, not to mention the votes come from all over the globe.

House sounds like hip hop? Are you crazy if anything breaks more closely resembles hip-hop then any other genre of edm

Uh hello, house is under 140 bpm and hip hop is under 140 bpm. They're obviously the same.

you don't know house unless you been to Chicago.

end of conversation.

tiesto is a very down to earth guy and took the time to get to know Blake and Tropher (they did snow patrol - chasing cars rmx) backstage @ Purenation during the festival. 'in2muzikk' said it best... once you are at the top you look down and realize that it's lonely and want to come back down to reality. Tiesto has become a 'product' and probably wants to go back to being just a DJ that likes to have a great time. You get big, you make a lot of money for yourself, the promoters and the venues then it's like... what now, what's next?

i have nothing but respect for him after writing his letter and voting for the 'little people'
