wowwwwwwwwwwwww

Easily the highlight of my weekend...Carey did NOT STOP dropping sick tunes. He had the 1234 crowd going nuts after hours style. What a night. I had a fuckin blast!

Great to meet Allied Nations and Vicci!

I would give Ian's performance a C+ based on my level of enjoyment. His set was a bit too commercial for my licking, but i guess he wanted to play it safe at a venue such as 1234 . The packed crowd seemed to eat it up and enjoy it, but personally he could've done better. It wasn't a bad night, but also not a 'he blew my socks away' type of night either.
I don't think i will ever go back to 1234 again..Their sound system sucks moose cock....Once u get used to Stereo's sound system, there is no going back . And the crowd...OMG the crowd. WTF was that!!! Urgh..It was full of 16 year old kids all trying to act cool and shit..They don't even know how to drink. Most of them (especially the girls) counldn't even stand/walk straight...I had to help this girl walk down the stairs cuz she was about to faint. I had to assist another one to walk upstairs (from the washroom) to join her freinds...
I ended up leaving around 2 with my bf and our freind and headed to Stereo for some REAL fun
Anyways..I still love Ian Carrey but i won't go see him at a club again.

It was great seeing Greg and everyone that showed up. It was nice meeting DJ Vicci as well
On that note. I'm off to bed...I don't know what am still doing up at 4 AM!..Bonne nuit!

Did he play Say What You Want? Might be a rhetorical question, but whatever...I heart that track !!!

Well, in light of all of this... I feel I can speak in Ian's position since I'm the one who booked him and is a friend of his for quite some time now...

It was a great night... And yes, the crowd was slightly young, but is it not young at most clubs these days??? I guess we're the ones growing up a bit, lol... No matter where I go, it always seems that way...

But anyways... About Ian... He definitely played it safe... So I'm sorry on his behalf to all the EDM fans for that... And I do thank you for showing up! He wasn't quite sure what to expect here in Montreal, and I'm the one to blame for that in a way... He held back quite a bit, but next time he comes to the city, there will be no bars held!!! And to those that loved it, well, you have seen (heard) nothing yet, ha ha...

And I definitely do think that if he were to play somewhere else (as in a rave or afterhours), then his full potential could be brought out... He has plenty of tricks in his sleeve... Trust me, I've seen what's in his CD case and on his laptop

A great example of this is how he played his next new coming single (with his wife on the vocals!!! ) called "Love Won't Wait" as the original mix... But the Dub mix, which was actually finished last week is a peaktime monster, something for the true EDM fan...

But anyways... Like I said... Ian is not to blame... I am currently into working something better for him and a few other DJs that have yet to be discovered/brought here to the city...

Thanks for supporting him!

And P.S. Yes, he did play "Say What U Want (Dub Mix)"...

He was probably terrified that MC Mario would bust in with his XXL jacket and kick him out if he didnt play uber cheese.
Also I thought DJ Vicci or wtvr booked him, who the hell are you.

Posted by canflip on Oct-11-2006 13:58:

Ha ha... I'm a promoter here in the city... But been more quite as of late, in the past 2 years... And I've been waiting for the chance to have the opportunity to start bringing some DJs in... Not exactly the best start... But at least it got the train started... If nayone has any afterhours booking contacts, please PM me... I have a quite a few on my list...

And yes, I have worked with DJ Vicci on this event...

I think 1234 was the wrong venue to book Ian Carey. He's not a commercial cheest fest dj, if you want a dj that appeals to the sort of crowd that frequents 1234 go with bob sinclair or something.

Clubs and true house/trance djs never work out, because the crowd is just wrong.. always wrong.

Posted by canflip on Oct-11-2006 14:15:

And that is why I will be looking into an afterhours venue... Or maybe organize something private

Posted by Spunkerspawn on Oct-11-2006 14:16:

Then I will be sure to be there because Ian Carey has some sick productions

Posted by RayRayy on Oct-11-2006 17:37:

me too!!

In my opinion, you have absolutely no reason to be on the defensive. Ian dropped tracks perfect for 1234 and it was a ridiculously fun night. He gave it a great vibe! I can't think of many better times I've had at a regular hours club.

I do agree that he should be in after hours next time fully unleashed! Great to hear that he'll be back again soon.
