PvD doesnt only spin PVD tracks.. Same with Tiesto and all the other dj's they sweat. |
besides, its not like they are throwing cups or napkins your way..then they'd really be in for it. LOL
^^think you are missing the white lining here
your points are valid, but the 'exception' is those kids who go to these parties who know nothing about the music but know that its a place they can go to take drugs and meet other chicks who are similarly fked out their mind with the hopes of taking them is the only reason why they are in attendance. Much so happens that its directed towards that age demographic, soon after they learn that if I go to this party on this night the crowd is a certain age and act a certain way which is why they go, not because a DJ is playing.
As I've grown to the plump age of 25, I've learned that the 'headlining' dj mentality is what is driving that second hook. the second hook after they done the drugs and know what the crowd will be like. it's the second reason that's supporting the initial intention.
the argument here is directed to those younger kids who've grown a liking to the music outside of say a scene, so much so that it's destroying what most of us consider as a good night out. We don't want to see those inital intentions in a club, but the fact of the matter is, that's what's going on here.
case in point...any large place has much to gain by catering to a crowd that has little or no chance to hear the sounds of some of todays biggest dj's. Although the younger masses bring in alot of money and audience to the club, it comes with a negative consequence..mostly being that you will have young people abuse liquor and drugs and use the venue for something other than the appreciation of good music (who, ironically, grow up to be the adults we see so often doing the same thing). Although many of us try to forget the days when we too used to do lines of white, and fun little pills and delicious brownies before, during, and after the club..it has really gotten overboard these days.. we don't look down on the kids because they do that... we look down on them because they lose control and abuse that, which is something many of us learned NOT to do.
And if you want to nip the problem in the butt, speak to the promoters and the people who sell presales, like Seasunz and company. they may be doing a good job bringing dj's into the scene and making the scene accessible to teenagers, but as much as they network with kids that are into the music, they network much more with the little druggies you see so often at Space/Metropolis/Nocturnal etc...
Sadly, if not, you are gonna find that alot of people (including some people i used to know very close to me) will be caught od'ing in clubs and/or passed out in the alleyways or behind the club with alot of the homeless people who hang around.

^^Agreed
There is however one prime example in which music always came first and that my friends is the original Twilo NYC. You just have to had been there to understand what really went on....
and I don't think twilo miami or any club for that matter will live up to the legacy twilo nyc has left.
Wasn't Twilo the club that closed because of an underaged person overdosing?
If not, nevermind, forget i mentioned it. I guess it was Limelight or something.
