Tall Paul

Bc the last two times I've seen him he's litterally bored the CRAP outta me.

I decided to give him another shot after the first, and my god, I think it was even worse maybe.

Ill give him no more shots.

I know I'm gonna get my head ripped off for this but...C&C. I mean they bring an unbelievable vibe to the city (and some of my most memorable party experiences), but their sound is getting a bit stale to me.

I was going to post the same thing. I know there a lot of die hards on this board that love but for me it's like chasing the dragon; nothing can compare to that set we heard NYE-2005 @ Boa.

in the middle of a line-up consisting of christopher lawrence, crystal method, junkie xl, ferry corsten, paul oakenfold, tiesto and paul van dyk, they, after receiving minimum support from the crowd (it was early..not packed, and they weren't great) the lead guy goes.."we are doing this live, right here in front of you. this is how REAL musicians do it". cocky shits

ps. we don't have to like a dj just because he was good once upon a time. nor do you hafta cry about it.

I don't even get excited about DJs coming around anymore unless they play epic trance. Oh wait, those don't exist anymore (or are far and few between). I'm looking at you, Blank & Jones Back in 2005 at whatever event it was they were at, blew me away with pure fucking awesomeness, the kind of shit that I love. Earlier this year (Decadence I believe) they played the same tunes that 95% of all other trance DJs play. Meh.

Blank and jones were at labor of love last year , not at decadence but i saw them 2 weeks ago here in san fran and they were fantastic. Pure hands in the air trance. And i agree there are to few of them around nowdays but i think B&J have still got it.

I agree...it's been a while since i've been realy blown away by anyone in TO, not since 2005. Way too much repetition! And sometimes too techy, techy is good but trance is about emotions.

My list:

1.Mauro Picotto
2.Timo Maas

Did you make it out to see him on Saturday? I'm not a huge Tall Paul fan by any means but he completely destroyed the Guv.....it was one of those nights that made me actually start enjoying the music again.

these are my regrets that i have seen live:

Tiesto
Above and beyond
Rabbit in the moon
Dumonde
The new and shitty disco styles of Bad boy Bill

list of Dj's i won't bother to see is much longer

James Holden
- I got into him, when he truly was king of the pixies. Now he is way to experimental for my liking. He used to have a soulful deep sound to his sets, but i just find it too hard to get lost in his stuff anymore because it is so abstract. When his old sound comes back, i love it, but it just too sparce.

Timo Maas
- He used to have a special sound, but now i just think he plays like too many other DJs. He does not sound as fun anymore.

Sander Kleinenberg
- Same reasons as Timo, except Sander used to have an epic/progressive feel; just listen to his first EM from 2001, and compare that to him now, nothing even close to what he was. This is why I try and hunt down his old sets.

Paul Van Dyk
- Just never enjoyed his DJ sets. I loved his old productions though, and he has some fantastic albums in his discography.

I have nothing any against any of the DJs I listed. For Holden, Timo and Sander, I got into them when they played very specific stuff which I loved. Now they have progressed and play stuff that does not match my tastes anymore. It is good to see that they are not staying the same, but I think I will pass more often than not.
