...or that society kills technology. The downside of standardization is that sometimes the better technology (Beta, ICQ, BluRay???) loses.

Along with the others that have been mentioned, Apatch http://apatch.org/ is also a decent patch to customize your msn.

it did everything u needed an IM to do and more than what some IM's do today at minimal memory expense. not to mention that some of its security exploits were teh funnay i.e. spoofing messages heh ..

313865 FTW!

No, but it IS for the search function... type in letters from a contact's email addy or that would be in their current name, and it auto eliminates all other contacts that dont conform to your search criteria thus far... I have a MASSIVE msn list, and even though its still grouped into like 6 different categories, and even though I have offline and mobile contacts separated out from my online ones, I still have a millions names to often scroll through if im trying to find a particular person to msg. Its not that scrolling for the person is overly hard or difficult, but this way is quicker and easier and saves a good several seconds, which is a VERY nice feature, esp once u get used to it!!

And, also, some ppl who really switch up their msn names all the time are hard to track down till u figure out what their new variation is (sometimes there is no constant or consistent factor to their msn name to give u a hint), so if u even know a portion of their email addy, they're tracked down IMMEDIATELY. Its really nice.

Me too, I really enjoy this version. Fixed all the damn ANNOYING AS FUCK bugs MSN 7.5 had on this computer! This version gets NO COMPLAINTS from me.

I find it much more stable than MSN 7.5. New features, meh, sure. Only one I really use is the type to find contact list and how if you're sending a file it doesn't snap back to the bottom all the time if you keep typing to that person. But they're nothing special other than that.

FUCK YEA! How a window would AUTO scroll back to the bottom when you were trying to read text further up, INFURIATED ME to no end!

Plus, on my MSN 7.5 (I reinstalled many times to try to fix it), my damn MSN picture would change every time I exited then re-opened MSN. The picture that was on my MSN when I closed it down was NEVER the picture chosen when it reopened!

That, drove me nuts. I couldnt wait to upgrade to fix that mess!

I found it harder to see who was online, and who was away, because the status symbol is to small. I mean, it wasn't THAT hard, just bugged me lol. I'm thinking of switching to it though, to be able to send offline messages and stuff.

Some features I like are that it time stamps messages, and you can send messages to people who are offline, like ICQ back in the day. Apparently you can do that with MSN Plus though.

I've been using Windows live messanger for 2-3 weeks now ,and don have any problems with it.
In fact i am very pleased with its features.
The best new feature about it ,is the offline messages , and also you can chat with someone who's using yahoo live messanger.
I think it's pretty cool.

60342081 hooray

Also I used to use Trillian 3.1 Pro for the longest time, then I had a need for webcam shit and, well MSN and Trillian webcam stuff does not work.

So I use MSN 7.5 now, I used the last beta of Live Messenger and more than a few times it was using over 300MB of my memory. Fuck, even my 1GB isn't enough.

I had it for awhile, but found it annoying as shit. It was the beta version as well, so lots of problems. I dunno if they've made it the official version yet.

+1.

Don't like it at all. Had it when it first came out..5 months ago? Don't like the lay out, and nothing is THAT special about it. I'll stay with my 7.5 plus. The onlt good things is the offline messages I suppose.

in ICQ98a i usually just renamed the person .. then it sorts everything out alphabetically and all you'd have to do is type the first letter of that person's name..

Posted by Swamper on Sep-21-2006 00:02:

Newer version(s) doesn't have any features I care to use, so, my hacked up 7.0 will do just fine.

Sending messages to offline users makes it worth the upgrade. a-patch is available for live as well, makes it look all nace and clean.

What's a-patch?

It's a patch for msn that allows you to hack/customize your msn. You can get rid of all the ads and so on that come with it. I think i posted a link to it earlier in the thread.

Posted by Playa24_7 on Sep-21-2006 01:35:

I was told that with MSN plus, you can send offline messages, even when you have MSN messenger 7.5

true or not true?
