and explain me how a club makes its money if they have to pay the dj 25k $

let's say Tribe can have 1000 people inside... give an average of 20$ per person on drinks ( yes not everyone are big drinker like you and me).... it only makes 20000$ for the club.... now pay the staff, the alcohol, bills for the building (electricity, etc) and pay the 25k $ dj

or are they kind enough to give people like us a xmas gift in advance by bringing big djs into clubs ?

i never went to Tribe... so way i wrote my post i spoke in general.

and i believe that not every body pays the cover.
how big is tribe anyway ?

Unless they were serving drinks for free, I'd pay about $75-200 minimum at the bar no matter what the drink price was for the types of shows myst and throwing. If it was $3 per drink I'd buy myself and another 10 people drinks all night, and if it was $20 per drink I'd still buy 5 drinks for myself and another 5 my girlfriend.

Not a doubt that this club makes mad cash if they fill the place, unless maybe they're paying 80gs for tiesto or some shit =P

Do you guys know for a fact that Sander charges 25gran per gig at a venue like myst? or did you pull that sum out of your ass?

Common 25000$??

Posted by malek on Sep-22-2006 06:01:

sander and 25k??? nah impossible, surely not a thursday.

actually very few djs charge 25k on weekend day, let alone a week day

Posted by FunKenLouis on Sep-22-2006 13:27:

i dont think he was saying that he charges 25k...

he was just talking about money... not sanders price

luis... i dunno .. maybe with out mentioning names..

what does a big dj charge for a weekend gig? weekday?

and what does a small dj charge?

iv always wondered this. i know it depnds on venue, capacity etc... but a ballpark figure?

Posted by FunKenLouis on Sep-22-2006 13:36:

the montreal market is totally different from the european one....

prices are nothing compared to what big producers in europe are willing to pay

thats what i can tell you at first

It also depends on who booked, how many times/year, past and actual relations, $$ capablility, how the dj feel about the venue and blablabla

Take 3 differents person, those 3 will call to book X dj, none will have the same price...and that for so many reasons

sure sure, all these and even more are taken into account.

how much money a given promoter spends with a booking agency, he gets volume discount, first timer promoter, etc etc.

its a very special field

lolll you're right but at same time, the price for him are higher because agents know he (they) can afford (not sure for the spelling of "afford" sorry)

So is it really a discount at the end (make them believe it is)? Technically no to my opinion, but on the other side yes, because of the money he(they) will made out of it, the "maybee" exclusivity that goes with...

You have a big name = pay big prices

You know like me that we could talk about that for sooooo many hours

The beauty of the backscene lollll

Posted by FunKenLouis on Sep-22-2006 17:38:

17k is alot for a house dj

the guy has to be on top fo real

Posted by nchs09 on Sep-22-2006 17:42:

oh god... trance dj's charge more? what a pitty concidering .... no matter what the music is... house parties are more fun than trance parties.

if that makes any sense... it makes sense to me
