Hi all, since I might be around and I know fuck all on the Western Canada scene I've got a few questions. What are the odds for this selling out? And how long would Sasha spin?

Posted by jussed on Oct-08-2006 20:46:

Show would probably sell out now at Celebrities since it's half the capacity of the Commodore. As for how long Sasha will be playing for, I am guessing 2-3 hours as the club will close at 3am.

WTF

Celeberities is NOT the place for Sasha

Posted by nsamadi on Oct-10-2006 04:35:

So Sasha is playing at this place called Celebriates now, I really don't know where that is, I only really know the Commodore & Plush, sounds like a not so nice place. So half means now only 500 tickets being sold, WOW, going to sell out fast. Tell me when tixs are going for sell, I need to get some fast.

LOL...I just checked out the venue "Celebrietes" through clubzone, it seems to be a gay club on regular nites. LOL...just though that was funny, bringing Sasha to a play at a gay club.

Posted by apri_peel on Oct-10-2006 05:05:

celebrities is actually one of the best clubs in vancouver, or so they say, i havent been there yet

it started off as a gay club, but now lots of straight people go there

I've never been to celebrities, but I know for a fact that the commodore is the nicest venue for a DJ to spin in vancouver ( unless they open up GM place )

i wouldn't agree with that. depends on the dj.

Posted by apri_peel on Oct-10-2006 07:00:

i think sasha would work better at commodore
but i dont know what celebrities is like, so that might be better

my guess is, after twisted announced that armin will be at plush on the same night, blueprint decided to put sasha at a smaller venue

Posted by xtr3m on Oct-10-2006 20:34:

The way I look at it...

Commodore = rave
Celebrities = much more intimate (according to photos; never been there)

And I think that Sasha doesn't mix well with raves, or better yet: Sasha is better in a smaller venue.

Here is what I'm talking about :

Posted by jussed on Oct-10-2006 23:15:

Ahh yes.. the famous pic of the booth at 1015 for GU 009 San Fran. I've seen Sasha in intimate settings, big room settings but it really depends how he himself is doing. He was only OK at Richards but absolutely killed it to 10,000 ppl in LA for NYE. I also saw him at the afterhours where there were probably less than 100 of us and he was pretty bad.. and pretty messed up and they had to kick him outta the booth and yet it's still the best party I've ever been to in my life.

sasha is sasha...does not matter where he is...i will be there...

Posted by jussed on Oct-11-2006 06:42:

I'm pretty sure it's a Blueprint and collaboration show. Not sure when tickets will go on sale.

As for the Gold Club series... guess who opened w/ Porter for Sasha @ Richards?

ME!

GOOD TIMES

Posted by apri_peel on Oct-11-2006 06:55:

*sigh* goldclub series

dang canadian laws
or was it the BC laws that dont allow benson and hedges involved anymore?
that was the deal, right?
but why are there cigarette girls at some clubs then?
i dont get it, and its hurting the club scene, people are gonna smoke regardless

mark, i disagree with commodore having a setting of a rave
its a great venue, quite classy, with an awesome sound system and a capacity to allow more people to see sasha

and the party sasha played at richards was just cool all around
the concept, the setting, the openers, the people, too bad sasha wasnt all quite there

Could I ask what you mean about this? I heard some pretty crazy stories about Sasha, so just wondering.

Posted by Tayfoon on Oct-11-2006 07:59:

Everything you heard is true

he was tired, had one of those off days so practically zero energy for the crowd. tracks werent all super great, but, from a technical point of view, he was perfect

Ever seen him in a larger venue? Sasha is KING of the massives. He tears em apart. Check out the vid clips from Sasha & John in buenos aires sometime. That show at Richards was not right at all.. definitely a weird vibe there and Sasha wasn't really feeling it or was just way too exhausted. That was the free show they did. Celebreties shoudl be a good show though I definitely would have preferred the commodore as it's the top venue in van.

Posted by jussed on Oct-11-2006 22:38:

Well, talked to Sasha when he arrived and he looked beat and he said as much that he was tired. He came from a big gig in Montreal the night before and Montreal is a city that will break you down even if you are party monster Sasha. He just wanted water to start and Vancouver was the last gig of his Goldclub tour. Sporter was great though and the vibe was a bit off that night because the Canucks lost game 7 against the Wild in round 2 of the NHL Playoffs that night. I was checking the score during my set and we gave up TWO third period goals.

Posted by eye_03 on Oct-11-2006 23:57:

i was stoked to see sasha at the commodore
but, ive never been to celebrities... cus i am a straight guy hehe
should be fun.. would prefer the commodore tho

Posted by apri_peel on Oct-12-2006 01:34:

dont be afraid of celebrities lol
you wont get chases by gay men
you might get approached but that would just be like being approached by a girl, or would give you an idea what its like for a girl to be chatted up by a guy
a lot of straight guys go there nowadays
so relax
dont let the fact that celebrities is a gay club to turn you away from this event

Posted by SparcZ on Oct-12-2006 02:00:

Gay clubs are great places to meet women because you can fly under the radar...lol But seriously Sasha will kick some ass as long as he doesn't get too wrecked.

I remember the last time he was here at Plush there was this one point in his set that was just mental and everyone loved it. You could tell that he was even thinking to himself "I'm the greatest" lol. He was dancing and going nuts...the memories and on my birthday too!
