9. Imogen Heap - Sweet Religion Off Imogen's Kickass album, "I megaphone". This tune is nice and fun, and I like this album much more than anything she did with Frou Frou or the new album. |
I'm gonna do another later
but this has turned out to be quite fun, it looks like alot of you have collections that are as inconsistent as mine, I have some really oddball things in there im lucky it didn't pick!
I particularly enjoy tweek's trance / dnb selection heh
but yeah, no cheating! and try to say somethin about the tunes it picked for those of us who dont know them as well.
1. Dido - Sand In My Shoes (Above & Beyond Mix)
One of the few Above and Beyond mixes I still have. I haven't really been into trance for the last few years, but I still dig this rework.
2. Counting Crows - Daylight Fading
I saw them in concert while I was in middle school, and they rocked. The whole Recovering the Satellites is a great album. I miss the Counting Crows of old.
3. Jay-Z - Justify My Thug
Hehe, such a fun song with a nasty groove.
4. Talib Kweli - Get By
Probably my favorite Hip Hop song of all time. I heard this song for the first time at a Talib concert, and it blew me away. I've been a fan ever since.
5. Led Zeppelin - Since I've Been Loving You
The masters themselves. Blues at it's finest. The pain in Robert Plant's voice is unbelievable.
6. Sublime - 40 Oz. to Freedom
Haven't listened to this in forever. I went through an alternative phase about five years ago, guess this is a remnant.
7. Fleetwood Mac - I'm So Afraid
I heart Lindsay Buckingham.
8. Beanfield - The Season (Swag's Vocal Mix)
This is a really fun song. Much more upbeat than the more famous Tides track used on Sasha's Fundacion album. It can usually put me in a good mood.
9. Blue Six - Grace (Freedom Dub)
Before trance, I was in to Trip-Hop and Deep House. This track kind of strides the line I guess.
10. Fine Young Cannibals - Good Thing
One of my favorite eighties tracks. I love the falsetto.
My itunes collection is 4373 tracks currently, probably divided roughly into quarters between trance/house, trip-hop/jazz, classic/modern rock, and pop/hip-hop.
Freefall Feat. Jan Johnston - Skydive (I Feel Wonderful)
(Good start, you prolly all know this one)
Rollergirl - Dear Jessie
(haha. this is the coolest radio edit cheese ever.. hands down)
Gouryella - Gouryella
(not much to say)
The Sax Brothers - Bakerstreet (Mikem Extended Mix)
(came off some trance compilation cd, has vocals and a sax playing in the breakdown, kinda cheesy song)
Tomonari & Tommy Pi - C Sharp 2005
(never listen to this, original c sharp is way better)
Frank T.R.A.X - Nebuchan (O.R.G.A.N Mix)
(came off some trance compilation cd as well. never listen to this either. weird, cause it is kinda cool)
Mario - Let Me Love You
(uh yeah
Colin Forbes - Shut Up And Dance
(came off a "hard dance" mix cd
ok track where a man is telling you that all you have to do "is shut the fuck up and dance.")

Added samples!
Can be found here: samples.rar
Hm. I couldn't put all my music on my laptop even if I wanted to, especially since I only settle for 320kbs rips. So, here's the randoms of what I do have stored:
1. The Future Sound Of London - Glass
It's the 'cute' track with the ominous end and bright pads... I think. The track list on Dead Cities still confuddles me.
2. Miss Kittin & The Hacker - Frank Sinatra (2001)
All together now: "Suck my dick, lick my ass!"
3. Pulsation - Pulsar
Little known alias of Pete Namlook. As the name suggests, it's a very ambient piece, with spacey synth pads and twinkly bits of piano as only Namlook can provide.
4. Banco de Gaia - Mafich Arabi
Arabian tribal jams on the moon. And no, you can't still look at the rabbit.
5. Sven Vth - L'Esperanza (Single Edit)
C'mon, people. You ought to know this one! Further proof trance was far more wicked awesome back in the day.
6. Lost Prophets - Divine Intervention
Big growling brutal feral evil jungle biz'niz. Hide your kids.
7. Jan Johnston - Unafraid (Paul Oakenfold Mix)
This is a pretty cool track. Jan's vocals are one of her better performances here, and you can't beat the combination of chunky acid over breakbeats and ominous pad washes. Shame it was overlooked since it was on the forgotten Swordfish soundtrack.
8. DJ Brace - Shades Of Red
Eh... kind of a raw go at trip hop and IDM. Sounds like something an amateur might produce with cracked software.
9. Daft Punk - Rock'n Roll
A certain indivdual around here swears by this track. I personally think it's the most annoying thing on Homework.
10. Muse - New Born (Paul Oakenfold Mix)
Another overlooked gem from the Swordfish soundtrack.
Bonus 11th Track: Tribute - Acid Intermed
Old school acid trance from Trans'pact Records. Pretty cool stuff, if you can overlook the complete absence of a heavy bottom end. Turn up the bass!
Marcel Woods - Time Is Running Out
2004 hardtrance track
KCE Japan Sound Team - Metal Gear Solid Main Theme (1997 E3 Edit)
gamers may know this, quality soundtrack from MGS
DJ Preach - No War In The Summer
very good tribal techno, summerish
Yahel & Tammy - Liquid Love (Dan Label Remix)
bad remix of a good track
Cohen vs Deluxe - Just Kick (Carl Cox Bootleg)
that crazy ass "it just wont do" bootleg carl cox did, spun it a few times, don't like it anymore
Blank & Jones - Watching The Waves [Klangzentrum's Waves@Sunset Remix]
a TA production
Umek - Gatex (Umek Remix)
banging techno, i like it.
DJ Air - Riding A Star (Alex Bartlett Club Mix)
dunno this one really, got it from some 2003 trance cd..
Nalin & Kane - Beachball (Original Mix)
classic, everyone knows this one
Rob Rolefes - Mel Percuetek
that famous tech track from TIC2
Moloko - Indigo
from their last comp "Catalogue". Indigo here we goooaoao
Marco Bailey - Live @ I Love Techno 2005
liveset from one of the most famous Belgian techno dj's, on one of the most famous EDM events of Belgium, I Love Techno (www.ilovetechno.be)
Daft Punk - Around The World
classic!
Dave Lambert - Live @ Sensation Belgium 15-04-2006
a house-set from a club-dj, at Sensation in Antwerp.
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
omg
I will do this when I'm back at my computer (currently remote-desktop'd).
What about livesets/mixes? I have a lot of my own recorded in mp3 format, as well as lots of sets (and they tend to be really long).
This would prolly be a lot more fun if I was still back home and had my complete collection, but anyways:
Sizzla - Obstacles (Blackdown Refix)
Unofficial dubstep/grime remake, adds some doomy atmosphere and some
tough rhythms to Sizzla's characteristic voice. Can be downloaded for
free at Blackdown's blogspot: http://blackdownsoundboy.blogspot.com/
Joey Beltram - Energy Flash
Doubt that this track needs any further introduction.
Peter Grummich - Awaking Naked
Gorgeous, drifting ambient piece off the album "Switch Off The Soap Opera", which otherwise is full of oddball techno.
Ricardo Villalobos - Ichso
This one sounds a bit more like Ricardo back in his Perlon days. Love it.
Secret Hero - Control (Kektex Remix)
The Cristian Varela remix is better, but still a pretty neat acid techno banger.
Echion - The Windows Are Open And My Hands Are Cold
Random netlabel thing I found the other day. Neat downtempo piece with some effective contrasts.
sure livesets are fine,
everything in yer collection is fair game!
Madonna - Nothing Really Matters
Ekatarina Velika - Dum Dum
Conjure One - Redemption (Dead Sea Mix)
Prince - When Doves Cry
Rob Dougan - Left Me For Dead
Timo Maas - Slip In Electro Kid
Resistance D - Feel High (Humate Mix)
Paul Van Dyk - Seven Ways
Dido - Hunter
Haustor - Ena

| Originally posted by armandzadza OK, my ten tracks: 1. Depeche Mode - It's No Good (BT's Twilo Mix) Ah, whatever happened to BT of mid-90's? I can only imagine the madness of Twilo when Sasha and Digweed played that mix... |
1. BK & Dave Randall - Tiptronic
Great piece of UK Hard Trance from 2003. This is one of the last hard dance tracks I really listened to.
2. Mauro Picotto - Aria
Fairly typical piece of Picotto techno from his last album.
3.Daft Punk - Funk Ad
One of about a billion skits on Homework. It's just Da Funk backwards- literally.
4. Faithless - I Want More (Filterheadz Remix)
This is a brilliant prog house remix of Faithless' last totally new single to date.
5. Oasis - Cast No Shadow
Not the strongest track on What's The Story Morning Glory. I usually skip it.
6. The Stone Roses - One Love
The Stone Roses are always brilliant, and this is no exception. Everything you'd expect from the Roses.
7. Tiesto - Arise
I know this isn't really by Tiesto, but I labelled all of ISOS5 "Tiesto" to cut down on millions of artists filling my MP3 player with one track each. I've no idea who it's really by.
8. Fluke - Absurd
The opening track on Higher State of Euphoria (Disc 2), one of my all-time favourite compilations.
9. Amorphous Androgynous - Liquid Insects
This is a great track. I need to listen to this album again. It's the opening track on "Tales of Ephidrina" and samples Predator at the start. (Amorphous = The FSOL).
10. The Prodigy - Their Law
Heh. This also samples a film at the start- Goodfellas this time. This is like a warm-up Prodigy track for their later big-beat sound. Pop Will Eat Itself do the guitars and vocals.
It's great fun actually to see what my MP3 player churns up.
I'm really enjoying this.
You all have infinitely more interesting tracks than the local college forum.
Actual discussion of tracks in MD, I forgot how much fun this was!

Golden Girls - Kinetic (Slackers Psychokinetic Mix)
Absolute classic tune, not a massive fan of this mix but its off the Judge Jules disc MoS Annual IV, for some reason he refused to play the much better Rhythm Masters remix which came out on the same release and put this mix on every compilation he did at the time. Wanker
Atlantis - Ill See You In The Next Life (PUSH Remix)
Quality MIKE remix this, from around the 2000 era. More energetic that alot of PUSH stuff from around that time IMO, great tune.
Olive - Your Not Alone 2000
A slightly iffy harder bootleg of this classic, a big Jules tune. Its not bad, havent heard it in forking aaages brings back some nice memories but could probably go without hearing it again for a few years!
3 Fingers - Frozen February
Another bootleg, nowhere near the original (Flaming June) but holds some great memorys for me as I used to play it out before I got my mits on a copy of the original
Indiana - Do You Hear Me (Art of Trance Remix)
Great piece of vocal trance, at the beginning of the second disc of the Gatecrasher Digital Albumn, which means its the track that was the start of getting ready for many a messy night haha
D-Mob - We Call It Acieeed
LOL class tune, Acieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!!!
Nalin + Kane - Beachball (Tall Paul Remix)
Another classic haha, Im enjoying this
Tilt ft. Maria Naylor - Angry Skies (Quivver Mix)
Great remix from Quivver, funkai
Wigwam - High Voltage
No idea, track from some random magazine cover CD, chunky funky house.
Prodigy - Jericho
From the album experience, wicked
Joy Division - Shes Lost Control
One of my favourite JD tracks, dark and moody
1. Fleetwood Mac - Albatross
Great track - CHIIIIL
2. Top Gun theme tune - Harold Faltermeyer
Cracking
3. Pearls - When Winter Calls
Late 90's early 2000's poppy crap that i just can't bring myself to delete.
4. Def Leppard - Animal
Fab.
5. Dire Straights - Romeo & Juliet
I like Dire Straights.
6. Rick Astley - Together Forever
I toyed with the idea of cheating at this stage.....
7. Beverly Knight - Greatest Day
Makes me feel good.
8. Brownsville Turnaround on the Tex-Mex border.
Allied Nations, I shit you not!!!
9. Hazel Dean - Who's Leaving Who
Why is none of my decent music coming up!?!??! Here's hoping for the next tune.....
10. The Prodigy - Fuel my Fire
Suppose this is OK, would've preffered Wind It Up though.
Odd, I have such a huge collection of tunage, in excess of 50gb. I feel that it is obvious I've not cheated.
Jarv
Id like to thank the threadstarter for making me rediscover my love of James, nice swan
Here are my tracks:
Johnson & Corbett vs. Alan-M - Ibiza Sun (Original Mix)
- Recently discovered. I may use it to start off a set, even though it's a pretty energetic track.
Andy Moor - Halcyon
-
Paul van Dyk - The Other Side (Marc Spoon vs. Mobilegazer Sunrise Mix) [feat. Wayne Jackson]
- meh.
Armin van Buuren - X Marks The Spot
- B side of the original 'Blue Fear' vinyl. It was referenced in an interview with Armin, and I wanted to hear what
it sounded like.
Tilt - The World Doesn't Know (Ozgur Can Dub Mix)
- Like the original mix much better. More of a melodic line guy.
Rank 1 - Airwave 2003 (Breathing)
- ^__^ Classic (remake).
Aerovion - Free Feelings (Original Mix)
-
Ferry Corsten - Fire (Bush II Bush Vocal Mix)
- wtf, really. I had to skip this one (just put cursor at the end to not drastically affect 'randomness').
Anna Nalick - Breathe (Blake Jarrell Remix)
- set-rip from one of the ASOTs. Ripped for a friend, never deleted. Haven't heard the original.
Randy Katana - Play It Louder
- I realize I have way more stuff than I actually listen to, or care to spin. Maybe a pruning is in order.
Menno de Jong - Guanxi (Super8 Remix)
Ayumi Hamasaki - Connected (Talla 2XLC Remix)
Ah, Ayu Trance. <3
Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun (DJ Tiesto Remix)
- Classic.
Armin van Buuren - Empty State [feat. Mic Burns]
- Off of 'Shivers'.
Conclusions: I have way too much old stuff that I don't listen to anymore. Embarassing track would go to 'Fire' or 'The Other Side'. I don't particularly like those track very much.

Track 1.
Who needs Minimal when you got Raymond Scott. This track is off a double CD entitled Manhattan Research INC. Which includes a track called 'The Bassline Generator' which is my favourite of his tunes.
Track 2.
The Clash can be bad and this is one of the bad tunes. Never enjoyed it. the whole track is basically extremely wet flange, Literally.
Track 3.
Not there greatest, but tune none the less!
Track 4.
Cheese yet acceptable as its The Prodigy.
Track 5.
Ah yes! Good Old JD. Ian Curtis and Co at there Euphoricly depressing best. Modern indie can go fuck itself.
Track 6.
"Oh shit, the bomb is gonna go off any second" Music. Dont like it. Not there best work.
Track 7.
*Moves to recycle bin*
I hate this fucking riff. I hate this.
Track 8.
Before Oasis it was the Stone Roses. The Stone Roses are better. Ian Brown still owns me to today. I wanna be adored is my favourite Stone Roses tune though.
Track 9.
Theres experimental thens theres album filler. this is sadly the latter.
Track 10.
Ah Yes! Perfect way to end this off with some Uber Jarre cheese.

I didn't realize how EDM was the only genre for so many people. Not a criticism, I'm just surprised by how one genre dominates so many people's collections. I guess I'm too ADD for that.
Turn 2:
1. Bob Seger - Against The Wind
God, I LOVE Bob Seger, and I don't know why. It's really unnatural. But his tunes are so down to earth, and I can't help singing along to them.
2. Rachel Stevens - So Good
Ok, guilty pleasure. I'm a Europop whore, you caught me.
3. Mandy Moore - In My Pocket
I don't care where you are, this is guaranteed to rock a party. People will turn their heads and go, "is this really Mandy Moore" if they ever hear this at full volume. But yeah, also a guilty pleasure.
4. Boston - Peace of Mind
This track is off one of the best rock albums of all time. Amazing guitar on this song.
5. Chicane - Red Skies
One of the first EDM tracks I ever heard, and still one of my sentimental favorites. So much emotion.
6. Wyclef Jean - Anything Can Happen
You know when you roll into the carnival, anything can happen, say what, say what, anything can happen. Groovy.
7. The Clipse - Grindin'
What a beat by the Neptunes. I heard them live and this was off the hook. My roomate still lists this as one of his all-time favorite tracks.
8. Imogen Heap - Sleep
I love Immi. Enough said.
9. Vanilla Ice - Ice, Ice Baby
Word to your mother.
10. Sneaker Pimps - Post-Modern Sleaze
I like the Salt City Remix that appeared on the Danny Howells GU better (man, does he need to do another GU...), but this is still a classic.
